Have had a panasonic viera TH-42PX600B for the past 3 yrs. Recently burgled and wii console was attached to tv and this was stolen and all connecting leads. The tv now appears to have approx 4 coloured vertical permanent lines. Wondered if the tv could have developed these lines from being mishandled during the burglary? Thanks.

Are the speakers' cables connected correctly? (p. 37) Is "Sound Mute" active? (p. 13) Is the volume set to the minimum? Is "Speaker output" set to "Off"? (p. 22) Change "SAP" settings. (p. 16) Check "HDMI 1 in", "HDMI 2 in" or "HDMI 3 in" settings. (p. 22)

Before spend $$ on replacement boards, make sure anything attached to it is powered off. Unplug TV for 5mn to 15min. Plug back in and it should power on. If not leave unplugged overnight before spending on a replacement board. We have to do this 2-3 times per year when someone forgets to turn off auxiliary components (receiver, DVD, cable box, etc) first. It has always come back on.

Unfortunately not. The serial number is only on the television or the box it came in. If you have not written it on your manual there is no other record of it.

You can buy an HDMI to DVI adapter (around 20$) to connect your HDMI computer cable to your TV. You will need separates audios cables, right and left, to bring the sound to the TV.

the wii leads are colour coded look for the colours on tv then switch tv into that input mode e.g ( common or EXT ) make sure wii is on

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset.
