Press the 'OK' button, then it'll prompt you to 'Save All Data To PC'. If you have dictation on the portable that you want to save, connect it to the PC and hit 'OK'. It'll go into 'PC Operation Mode' and you can transfer your dictation like you normally would. Then when you disconnect and reboot the portable, you should get the error again.

To clear the error, press 'OK' again, but on the 'Save All Data To PC' screen, instead of pressing 'OK', press 'Esc' (I think that's the other option - this is from memory!) and it'll prompt you to delete the data. Press 'OK' and it'll format the memory and reboot - then you should be good to go.

Yes, it's probably because you don't have administrator rights on the system. If you can't be given them, another option would be to have the doctors save the dictations somewhere other than their user directories, like a new folder on the C drive called 'Dictations' or 'Shared Files' or some thing similar.

Good luck.

The 2003,1001 error is caused by shutting off or cutting power to the portable while it's still in the Record mode. The portable is writing to the memory, and if you cut the power, it doesn't have a chance to finish saving the dictation - resulting in a corrupted file.

How do I make a audio CD from my dictation machine

If you are already using your dictation machine then you don't need to install its software as its already installed. Now you only require Nero for burning files to CDs. You also require a CD writer installed on your pc. You shall know where your files are saved when you record through dictation machine. If you can't find the recorded files kindly comment back.

Olympus DS4000 says Memory Error

I had several cases lke this with clients. One of the dictations is corrupted. It's the "one" here that matters. When you connect the DS-4000 to a PC, it appears in your "My Computer" as a Removable Drive. Browse this drive, and you will find the dictations in one of the folders (A, B, C etc...) or they might be scattered between folder depending on how your user records.
Try to copy dictation manually from that drive to the matching folders on the PC (by default My Documents-->DSSPlayer-->Messages-->FolderA, FolderB..., although you might have changed that).

At some stage one of the dictation files will refuse to copy/paste: that's the corrupted one; however should should be able to save the others. Once you have salvaged all but one dictation, you can do a format of the card. In fact, I suggest you chage the card, as corruption is usually a sign of worst things to come...

Using this procedure, at least only one dictation will need re-dictated.

I hope this helps.

Editing? Can dictation be paused, then go back part way and....

you can not do this with the Olympus ws-100, you need a dictation machine that has the editing function which allows you to easily insert, overwrite, partially erase files and continue on the same file, most of the digital dictation units have NEW FILE BUTTON , you will stay recording on the same file till you press new.
Look at Olympus DS-2300. Olympus DS-33300 or ds-4000.
