Collecting water on top of house boat from air conditioner

All AC units create condensation from the cooling of air (cold/cool air hold less water than warm air), it is worse in areas of humid air like the Midwest for example.

All a/c units condense water out of the air and channel it out the back of the unit. Just tilt your unit slightly in towards the outside of the trailer-house so it does not drip on your bed.

The condenser drains for a roof unit drain on top of the rv. There are on hoses which divert the condensation to a location other than the roof. Are you trying to keep it from dripping down at the door?

Hi, hopefully it is just your drain stopped up. If you can climb up on the top of the trailer, on your air cond. unit will be a drain. It will be about 1" around and will be located close to the bottom of the unit. It may have a hose connected to it or it may just drain on the roof. When you find this, see if it is plugged up with dirt, etc. You can stick something up in it to unclog it, but be aware not to jab the coil tubing with what ever you are using. You may be able to use a shop vac or compressed air also.

If it is not stopped up, depending on the age of the unit, the condensate pan, (which hold the water) may be rusted through. You will have to take the top of the unit off and a couple of covers to get to the front coil (looks like a radiator). The pan is underneath the coil.

It just got so hot that the unit kicked out on high head pressure...
Check the outside condenser coil for dirt... wash it out with soap and water so that you can get maximum air flow through it...

Remove the filter at ceiling and run the AC on cool etc, and see if you can feel cool air leaking across to return air inlet where the divider between cold and return is. Check along all edges, etc for any cool air . Careful of wiring, but you should be able to get hand in there and feel especially around the edges where it should be sealed tight. Quite often a leak in that area causes cold air to enter return air and causes excessive condensation. Another thing to check is look way up inside opening for return air, with a flashlight and see if any dirt/dust on coils and fins of evaporator, and if so, needs to be cleaned off with a vacuum, and brush attachment. Let me know what you find.

If the blower never tries to come on, then that is why it is tripping the breaker. If the breaker is tripping while the entire unit is running, try cleaning the condenser coil. Go on top of the unit and remove the AC shroud. With a water hose, gently rinse the condenser coil out from the rear. Continue doing this until the water that flows is clear. This should help with the breaker problem, if it does not, then the fan motor is overheating and causing the amperage to go up. What size of breaker is the unit on? Does it trip mainly on hot days? If so then it is the fact that the condenser is dirty.
