I realize I will have to get the computer connection cable but will it project HD and can you notice a difference? I am thinking about buying this projector.
I have this projector and I use it to watch both Blu-ray discs and Dish Network HD programing with the outputs set to 720p. I have the component analog outputs of each device plugged into a Sony AV receiver. I have a cable that has component (red, blue, and green) RCA connectors on one end and a D-15 computer style video connector on the other end that goes to the projector from the receiver. HD programs look very good. It is not full blown 1080p quality but it is much better than standard definition TV or DVD. You must use the Progressive Scan mode for maximum effect. I know that technically this projector should not be HD based on its specifications, but it definitely is noticeably better than standard definition. I would love to have a 1080p projector someday. I think Optoma has one out now for under $1000.
While the projector may attempt to display the HD TV, it will be poor quality if a image is displayed at all.
The native resolution is to low as per the specifications. The resolution needs to be at at leat 480P to be compatble with HD TV.
