I guess you have washer drain pipe plumbed into a spigot on the sink trap. if so, when you empty sink, some of the water goes down the washer drain pipe and ends up filling your machine.
to cure, take the drain pipe as high up as possible under the sink in a swan neck and that should cure it. its a common problem

Husky 2600 pressure washer with honda gcv160 engine. engine won't run with choke off.

I bought mine at Home Depot, the pump failed after about 8 hours of use then Home Depot agreed to replace it now it failed again after aabout 10 hours of use. This is a piece of crap and Home Depot should be ashamed for selling this junk. I am sure they are in with Husky and making big dollars on a crappy product. My machine is like brand new just will not work. Now the carb has to be replaced only after less than 20 hours.

How do you clean a cold water inlet valve? Our city has had busted water lines and the silt has gotten into my lines.

unplug the washer, get at home depot "SILICON LUBRICANT", remove the fill hose, with a small screwdriver scrape the screen of the water valve and spray the lubricant to remove silt. repeat the proccess as needed. do the same at the faucet side. get new screens at home depot too. connect the fill hose at the faucet and take out the drain hose. put the other side at the drain and open the faucet to purge any dirt-silt for 2 to 5 minutes. install new screens at faucet side but not at valve side(valve has one already). open faucet and test wash. good luck to you.

Washer slowly fills with water when not in use. I

I have the same problem. The only problem that I have is not knowing how much water will eventually go into the tub. It takes about 4 or 5 days to accumulate about a gallon. I called the Whirlpool service center and the woman said they recomend turning the water off after each use-I think this is ridiculous. If going away on vaca maybe. Rob

LG Washer (Mod# WM2016CW) obvious mildew smell inside

Unfortunately this problem can occur with all front loaders made by any manufacturer. The problem results from excessive soap and body oils that do not fully dissolve and/or rinse clean from inside the inner and out tubs. Front loaders are energy efficient and only use a little water so any build up between the tubs that gets higher than the water level is left behind. It is also natural that some moisture collects between the folds of the door gasket and, if not wiped out, will mildew over time.

Not to worry, a few changes in use (as compared to top load washers) can easily eliminate your current problem and keep it from returning.

First of all, make sure to ONLY use HE (high efficiency) detergent and make sure to use no more than 2-3 tablespoons per load (because too much detergent will cause oversudsing, not break down efficiently and build up between the inner and outer tubs).

To eliminate the problem you now have I highly recommend a product called Whirlout (available at Home Depot in the hot tubs section). Just one capful in an empty load with the hottest water cylce will break down the current build up and take care of any odors (a 2nd cycle if the problem is really bad).

To avoid any problems in the future, use the correct amount and type of HE detergent, wipe the door gasket dry when done with the laundry (for the day, week or however you do your laundry) and run an empty cycle once a month with a capful of Whirlout. If your machine is in a high humidity location (i.e. a basement), then leave the washer door cracked open when not in use.

Hope this helps, please rate my answer.

LG washing machine has AWFUL mildew smell

Same here. We bought ours January 2005. Love the machines and take great care of them, too. Then the smell in the washer which seemed to affect certain clothes, like thick sweat pants and t-shirts (they smelled really "sour"). After doing some searches I found on this site where someone had recommended using a product called Affresh. I figured I might as well try it since my other attempts failed. This really worked for me. I bought it at Home Depot for $7 for a pkg of 3. I used 3 tablets per their directions, as this was my first time using it (afterwards they recommend using only 1 tablet per month). I was totally amazed as the smell was gone. I hope it works for you, too!

Gasoline smell in the washer

White vinegar is NEVER a bad choice and I would use that.. start a wash ( without clothes) and when the washer fills with water.. stop it and open the door... add a cup or two of white vinegar and let it cycle thru ..When completed, leave the door open to allow the inside to air out... You can also use a product sold at Home Depot and other home improvement places called AFRESH ... hope that helps...
