Nothing happens when I try to open internet explorer. I made sure i am connected, no prob there

Hi
I didn't get u,
You click on the Internet Explorer icon, no thing happen, means: the program won't open or no website is opened in the page?

If the 1st probability, please use other web browser like Mozilla FireFox, it's free browser can be downloaded from their website, just google it ;) ,
and if the 2nd probability, please try opining other website like Yahoo or CNN, etc,

Please tell us your results

Trying to connect between cable pc xp edition and new dell vista laptop

the SSID is only the name which your connection is called.
If you have security enabled, you will need to type in the passkey when asked.

First go to internet explorer open it and go to tools>connections tab, then tick 'never dial a connection' and close I. Explorer.

go to control panel>network connections>right click on your wireless connection icon, then go to the TCP/IP line, highlight it, click properties, then select 'Obtain IP address automatically.

Select Ok, then close window, go to internet explorer, then open it up and you may need to click refresh a few times ,but should connect

Hi Suz du - try this - on your IE - click on tools>internet options>connections. Make sure that there's nothing in the dial-up box. If there is, remove it. Then click on Lan settings snd make sure automatically detect settings is clicked. Then click ok. Close IE and re-open and try it.
If this fixes your problem PLEASE rate as fixed. If not DON'T RATE YET, Just add a comment letting me know what happened and gladly assist you further. Thanks.

Internet connection

Open Internet Explorer. In the menu on the top click on "Tools", "Internet Options", click on the "Connections" tab, click on your dial up connection, on the left, click on "Settings" and put a check in the "Automatically Detect Settings" box. Click OK.

Click on "Lan Settings" and do the same thing.

Clear your browser history and restart Internet Explorer.
