I'm having trouble removing a bios password from my latitude d631. I tried removing the battery for a few hours, and dozens of default master passwords. Nothing's worked and this is alot of trouble just to enable usb booting.

There are a few options, if there is no small battery on the motherboard you can either replace the eprom chip or do a paperclip trick. on ebay there are password removal sellers for around $20
sometimes they can help , but it sounds like its locked in you eprom the paperclip trick involves removing the motherboard and powering on the laptop while jumping the pins on the eprom chip with a paperclip.

How can i unlock dell latitude d420 bios password i bought the laptop at auction, now i'm screwed.

For that try password as "dell" or "DELL"
If it not works then you have to reset all settings of bios to factory defaults.
For that you need to open back side cover of laptop.
Open all screw in back side then remove cover then you find motherbord chipset .
Pull cmos cell from motherbord 15 minutes so all settings goes to factory defaults.
Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Bios info on hard drive

The BIOS password is not stored in the hard drive.
Try Dell as the password first.
The BIOS password could be stored in the BIOS chip or an an EEPROM chip.
If the password is stored in the BIOS chip, you can restore the BIOS back to the default setting and remove the password by removing the BIOS battery for 1/2 + hour, insert the battery and go into the BIOS configuration to set the Date & Time.
If the password is stored on the EEPROM chip, there are no backdoor passwords available.

Dell latitude d820 can't get intothe bios set up screen

The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine.

Hope you find this information usefull.
your feedback is appreciated.

Bios password dell d800

Remove BIOS battery. Short BIOS jumper or leave the battery out for a long time(Over night, maybe) This should default the BIOS to having no pass word present.  If that doesn't work then evidently Dell has one within the BIOS . Just ask them.
