I have a vertical black stripe about 3-4 inches wide right of center on screen that wont go away. Have a Magnavox with same problem, but only half of screen, 3inches wide. What did the repair cost?
Check these videos for repair instructions for black lines.
Just requires some soldering.

Hi
If there is no picture behind the stripe and the edges are well-defined, then one of the display driver ICs has failed. Philips displays can be made by several manufacturers - usually Samsung. The ICs are bonded to the flexible ribbon in most cases, and replacement is an expensive specialist job - and in many cases is simply not possible.
A shadow on the picture is much better - usually due to interference.

I have a lg 42 inch plasma that had the same problem. I was told that the panel was bad. I replaced the digital board for $108.00 and it has been workin fine for months now. [email protected] .
I have the same problem with my 3 year old LG LCD TV. I brought it to a certified repair center and they said the screen is broken because of micro-cracks which were formed because of heating up and cooling down. They said Philips and LG have a whole series of TV's with this problem. Repair is possible by replacing the entire screen which is more expensive than an new TV...
So a TV which is about to last for 50,000 hours broke after only 3,500 hours : (

Helpful guidance, THANKS!
I have the same problem with my Philips LCD screen. The left center it starts out with vertical stripes of different colors then it goes black. Sometimes it goes away.
I have the same problem myself. Have a 2-year old Panasonic plasma TV (TH-42PX60U) and now I have a permanent vertical black stripe along the left hand side...plus the shadows. I've disconnected everything and tried to "reboot", but not working. So disappointed in Panasonic because this TV is so highly rated on Consumer Reports and CDnet. Was anyone able to fix? What did Panasonic do to keep you as a customer? I'll don't think I'll buy another Panasonic again if they don't do the right thing.
I have the same problem with my 3 year old LG LCD TV. The qualified repair center said the LCD screen itself is broken because of micro-cracks which are formed because of heating up and cooling down. It can be repaired by replacing the entire screen which is more expensive than a new LCD TV. Philips TV's have the same problem because they come out of the same factory.
So my TV, which was supposed to last 50,000 hours, is now broken after 3,500 hours or so. Thank you LG.... NOT!!
