My laptops mother board is dead so i need to replace my laptop mother board. my laptop is dv2000 and i bought it last year. i don't know the specific model name.

if you still have 1 month warranty its best to get it sent off now to be fixed otherwise it may be rather expensive to fix yourself the graphic card is onboard the motherboard so its all in one

Could be many things. Let start with a couple of easy ones.1) Unplug charger from computer and outlet, take battery out press power for at least 30 sec. Plug every thing back power on. 2) charger bad won't turn on or charge battery, try diferent charger if don' know how to use a voltmeter. 3) power jack loose or broken. 4) last and worst mother board circuits transitors etc... btw processor, video card or input devices fried. Buy new board from ebay. Don,t fix it. Not worth it. This is Only if laptop gives completely sign of not turning at all. No lights, no hardrive or no working or fan. No signal of life. If couple of lights do turn on it can be the ram or video card, play with ram a bit. Good luck.

try reseating the memory cards in the notebook if the lights come on but no display usually memory cards have been knocked loose.
that is one defect that they have is memory cards come loose if the laptop has been jarred from being in a car getting bounced around in the seat etc.
the memory cards control a portion of the video and if the memory cards lose connection you loose video.

This is a common problem with the hp dv2000. Check out www.msbin.com Their DIY guide might be able to fix your issue with the graphic card. The problem is caused by the GPU on the systemboard.

Start by trying another power outlet.

The power adapter should have its own light. If it doesn't light up then the adaper is bad. Kensington.com sells very inexpensive universal power adapters. You might also find a good deal on eBay.

If the adapter lights up then it may be your battery. Notebook batteries are only good for 2-3 years. If you let them sit for a long time without a charge they may only last 1-2 years.

Video card dead, sorry to say. They are part of the system board so are not replaceable. Common problem with HP Pavs. Replace the machine with either a new Toshiba or more expensive Dell range or buy a laptop 3 or4 years old as the build quality was so much better

i m in Hong Kong. The stupid HP repair center charged US 90 just for inspection!!!!! They they said the whole motherboard had to be replaced, thts additional US 630 dollars, the thing is just 1.5 yr old. They also said i don get to keep the broken mother board after replacement. This is simply irresponsible, unethical, sleazy and UNJUST!!

Thanks. right now the computer is fixed for US70. when i hv time, i'll open it up and see if i can figure it out how it was fixed. The shop suggested tht the computer wont last too long. This is such bad quality for HP... Sorry, i hv to do the following for other victims to find this easily:
