Siemens Gigaset 204A has four YELLOW PORTS at back which accommodate the cable plugged into the CPU. Which of these ports is correct one for that cable, or can it be plugged into any?

The power supply of the base station is working correct? the cable from the power supply is not broken? and the cable from the power supply is inserted?
Just a few questions, things I would start with when my base station wold not have any lights.
Oops the base station of my Siemens Gigaset S79H does not have lights.

Connect the ISP modem to main uplink port. Then connect pc to any other port. Done!

Please try to install your Siemens modem's driver 1st on your PC but must be sure that driver will be Vista supported.

you cant open a port on this modem because there is no firewall integrated check your router
or your windows firewall config

A flashing ADSL light on the router means its not getting constant broadband signals. Make sure it is connected to the adsl filter without any extensions and the filter should be directly connect to the main phone socket and not to an extension socket. Also check if the phone socket has 1 or more than 1 ports on it. If it has two port its most likely a SSFP socket which does not require a filter as it is inbuit.If all the connections are fine try changing da filter.
