Not routing air properly? Replacing the box below the radio has fixed the problem in my s80. Lift the rubber tray in front of shifter with a screwdriver to reveal the two torx screws holding the control box in place.

Input Speed Sensor Performance
Possible Causes:
P0716 The TCM detects an unrealistic drop in input shaft speed. ISS DTC P0716 is not failed this ignition. Transmission input speed is 1,050 RPM or greater for 2 seconds. Transmission input speed drops 1,000 RPM for greater than 4 seconds and does not recover with in greater than 0.80 seconds.
Go to a Volvo mechanic for specific help, they will probably replace a faulty sensor.
I had the same problem with my 2001 s80 my battery went dead and it just stopped working me and a friend looked at every fuse even all of the relays and the relays under the fuse box in the engine compartment but to do that you have to remove the battery terminals so when we were finished checking everything we connected the terminal and started the car and everything was back on I'm assuming that the computer or something needed to be reset.
I tried to change my main headlamps both were working fine the i changede 1 it worked went to change second one and now nither work home muy 2001 volvo s80
