Possibly the lid switch. It won't spin if it doesn't know the lid is closed. Some washers won't agitate with the lid open either, so let it fill until it starts agitating, then lift the lid. If the washer stops you know you've got a good lid switch. If it keeps going you know you need to test the lid switch. Just hearing if it clicks or not is not always a sign it's good. Some Maytag/ Admiral washer lid switches have more than one contact that must close to spin.
It could also be a problem with the timer. Put it in the spin cycle where you know it should be spinning. Make sure the lid is closed. Grab the timer knob and try wiggling the timer shaft up and down and around without turning the knob. If it starts and stops you've got a bad timer. You may still have a bad timer if nothing happens, but you'd have to check it with a meter.

I just had the same problem, twice in a row. The first time, thinking it was an electrical problem in the timer area, I gave the top of the contol unit a good 'Arthur Fonzarella" whack and it came back on. The next load, it did it again so, after reading solution #2 above I just grabbed the agitator post and gave it a good rough thrashing about. The washer came back on.
I had started getting ready to to to Best Buy or Lowes to get a new Samsung or Bosch front load with steam dryer... Now I'm actually a bit disappointed that I got it working again, but oh well. I'm going to start doing my research...
Had the same fault
I lifted the agitator out and then the bowl
I found water in the plastic of the bowl that cased the water pass traps in side and move to one point in the bowl causing the bowl to trip out the out of balance switch.
Just unscrew the posie drive screws and remove the plastic pieces and lift the bowl straight out to test.
I have not desided how to release the water yet
I'm guessing a few small holes on the out side bottom of the top plastic six inches apart to release the water during a spin.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean.(Refer manual) There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

I had the same problem. The machine will do the washing cycle. At the start of the spin cycle it would start turning with a lot of clicking sounds and then would stop spinning. The water pump would continue working without problem. The motor tries to start again in about three minutes, however, repeats the same behavior. I have a reasonable mechanical and electrical knowledge. I was sure that the overload protection switch of the motor was tripping. I opened up my machine---a GE super capacity top loading machine. Took off the belt and turned the transmission pulley. It turned easily in both directions (washing and spinning). Hence, the transmission was good. Next, I checked any water accumulation in the spin tub. If the water is not drained properly before the spin cycle, it would overload the motor. There was no water clogged in the spin tub. Finally, I dismantled the electric motor. There was a clutch assembly underneath the motor pulley. I dismantled it and found the clutch very dirty with some grease that had turned sticky. I cleaned the assembly thoroughly with alcohol and assembled back the machine. The machine is running perfect after that. Conclusion: The clutch assembly was mis-functioning. Reason: When the spin cycle starts, the spin tub is very heavy and cannot achieve the full speed quickly. On the other hand, electric motors must get to their running speed fairly quickly or else overheating of motor would happen. A proper functioning clutch allows the motor to run at their optimal speed while transferring enough torque to the spin tub to slowly speed up the tub to its fullest. In my case, the clutch was sticky, thus overloading the motor which would trip as it overheats.

Check another tap in the house.
Fully open tap.
Straighten hose.
Check the filter of the inlet hose.

• Load is too small.
• Load is out of balance.

imbalance is too great, after several

Solution:
Add 1 or 2 similar items to help
balance the load.
Rearrange load to allow proper
spinning.

Thre washing machine is stopping on rince, the light is flashing. we press start again and it goes through the same routine till it hit rinces and stops. the clothes are still full of water, we have to move the dial to rince and freshen up to finish the wash. any ideas..?

I have the same problem. However, the washing machine sometimes goes out of balance when washing towels and it's during the spin cycle. This time, however, the washing machine just won't start now (after having stopped during the spin cycle).
What should I do? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.
