Most misting humidifiers use an atomizer to generate the mist. It is a small metal disk that vibrates very fast. I have yet to see one of these that ever lasts more than a year or two. If you remove the water container you should be able to see the atomizer. If you can put you finger on it and it isn't vibrating then thats the problem. On most small humidifiers it is cheaper to buy a new one that to try and get it fixed.

I suppose you are looking at the do-it-yourself model. Depending on the wire that is run up to you Regular Thermostat from your furnace. You may have to run a seperate line for the Humidistat. A digital thermostat that does Humidity and Temperature is recommended. Or you could just place a Humidistat near the furnace room. A wiring diagram will come with the Humidifier discribing the different ways to wire it.

The demineralzation cartaridge seems to be the issue. Remove it and see it the misting starts. If it does put a hole in the center cylinderical support of the demineralzation cartaridge, the one that fits over the white positioning post that is built into the base of the humidifier. This will allow the cartirdge to sink to the bottom and not interfer with the water tank plunger opening up and filling the base.I opened the hole completly but I think a smaller hole will do.
