Set washer to cold wash and turn it on and check water. If the water is hot, then swap hoses. If after hose swap water still hot then either inlet valve is bad or control board or wiring short.
check for 120volts on both water solenoids (hot & cold) as the solenoid could be bad,or the machine isn't letting power to the hot solenoid valve to open it,but frist make sure the hose screens aren't plugged and not letting water through these fill hoses to these solenoid valves
Makes a big difference. Cold water valve is is normally marked blue or simply cold water. connected to cold water tap. Hot water marked with red colour or simply hot and connected to hot water tap.(Red hose - Hot water. Blue hose- cold water.).
If your dishwasher manual states connection to hot water then it does not heat its own water and needs to be connected to the hot.
Salt is used to overcome the hard water problems often found in England, Hard water deposits will always be a problem if no softener products are used
On an older model washer, you probably have a bad water valve. (hot water solenoid coil electrically " open ") Newer models, now there's a can of worms. Some models use thermistatically controled water valves to limit water temps, so you may not be able to get true hot water. Also, if you are checking the temp as the machine fills, some models will only fill with cold if the lid is open. (safety feature) The only way to see what is really going on is to fill the machine with cold and use a thermometer to check the water temp, then, pump that out and fill (with the lid closed) with hot and check to see if that temp is higher. As stated previously, water temp may not really be " HOT " but may be warmer than " COLD ". That may be as good as you will be able to do, as all manufacturers are trying to reduce energy consumption. Thank your government.
If you switch the machine to the hottest wash and it does not let in hot water then it is usually the hot water inlet valve solenoid that is faulty. You can get these from spares shops, or call a service engineer.
I have the YLR2-5-96H2 and hot water stopped heating up. I unscrewed the casing and unplugged the connections to the circular heating element and 2 circular probes. Brushed off the white dust build up on the probes and it started to heat water again. I ruled out faulty heating element, because it got really hot just seconds after turning on the hot water switch.
