The wireless printer is somewhere on your "local network".

Access "Control Panel", and access "Printers".
Click "Add Networked Printer", and "browse" your local network to locate the print-server.

Tell us any error-messages that you get, if any.

My home network uses WPA security. How can I use my D-Link DP-311P print server? It seems to support WEP but not WPA.

This is a very old 802.11b only print server (made in 2003, discontinued in 2006), and only supports WEP It also runs the slower 802.11b protocol (11mbps) and will tend to slow down your whole wireless network if you use it. You are much better off replacing it with a more modern print server.

If you insist on using it, you will have to switch your wireless network to use WEP instead of WPA.

Hello, we have a D-Link DP-311P Wireless and have had it for several years - we can not remember the password - is there some way that we can reset it....help please

The default password is SYSxxxx, where the xxxx is equal to the final 4 digits of the MAC Address

The default password could also be SYSADMIN.

If neither works, then the print server will have to be sent to D-Link to be reset. Please contact D-Link's RMA department at 800-326-1688 M-F 7AM - 6pm Pacific time about how to send it to them.

Is it possible to get a DP-311P print server to work with an Epson AL-C900 laser printer?

It should if your printer has parallel port in the back. Follow the instructions manual, connect print server to the parallel port and then to the network. Get the manual here:

Does this DP-311P print serverwork with a wireless

I ready all about your device here:
http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=DP-311P

And I do not show that 802.1.5.1 which is Bluetooth. They do have a small section but it just states the range of Bluetooth.

The best way to do it, turn on your laptop/device and have it start searching. If it does not show up on the list, then more than likely it does not support it.

Have a great day.

D-Link DP-311P Wireless print server reseting

Hi Luis,

Sorry, it had been my mistake, did not realise your model does not have ethernet port at the back.

On D-Link printer servers that do not have cable connections it requires a couple more operations, you must do the following to connect safely to the server and open configuration:

  • On the rear panel of the DP-311P you fiind a switch to set server to Config mode. Set the switch to
  • Now go to the computer that is connecting wirelessly to the D-Link, go to wireless adapter properties, for example using control panel, and set the adapter to Ad-Hoc mode.
  • Change manually the wireless adapter IP Address so that it is in the same IP Address range
  • as the DP-311P, set the wireless adapter to a static IP address comprised within 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.255 excluding 192.160.0.10.
  • Always in wireless adapter settings >> IP configuration, set subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
  • Ensure you click OK, or Apply in network settings Window, and restart the computer to apply new network settings.
  • Open Internet Explorer and type the IP Address of your wireless print server in the address bar. The default IP Address is 192.168.0.10.
You also find procedure explained at page 7 of the user manual here : D-Link DP-311P

Then follow instructions at page 15 to reset the server.

After you have finished configuring the DP-311P, to save the changes, you must toggle the mode switch on the rear panel of the print server back to “Normal” mode.
