I have dell desktop and just got comcast cable xfinity internet service. Desktop is working great with modem SBG6580. Desktop running windows 7 64. I have a sony viao laptop and I can not get the modem to connect to the sony laptop and can not a home network working with the desktop or the laptop. Tried manual network setup on both with no success

I didn't have incoming calls for a year (didn't mind, no telemarketers). But I fixed today.

Check with your home alarm company. Turns out they can download a signal. No, it wasn't the computer's internal modem, it wasn't the phone/cable company or the arris modem.

No need for service call.

This could be a duplex issue. When you log into the belkin does is assign you an IP address? Have you used a ballpoint pen to reset the EMTA since you have connected the router?

The problem would be comcast. Your connections are setup correctly. The modems do not control the internet traffic flow, they are made to produce maximum flow.
If more people use the internet, the less flow it will have.
Check all internet options settings, and make sure EVERTHING is set to automatic

if the power light is flashing then the modem is on battery backup and internet is disabled. plug the power cord into the modem or find a working power outlet, you should be set after that.

Power light flashing=bad
