Spend the 12 dollars and get a universal mechanical oil pressure gauge, remove the oil sending unit on truck and screw new gauge into and start truck. Does it read pressure? I know people will say just replace oil sending unit but i like to visually check for a true oil pressure than to trust a light, at least you will know what pressure your motor has. if you have pressure then replace the sending unit. Most of the time when the sending unit goes bad your oil pressure gauge in the truck will run at 80 psi all the time. Since you have a light the sending unit just says it isn't getting pressure which turns a light on. So be safe and do as i suggest, if there is no pressure at the mechanical gauge then i hate to say it but you may have a bad oil pump. I honestly just think you have a bad sending unit,if you want just replace it and if lights go off thats good, but you still don't know what the pressure is and if you feel comfortable with this then do so.

What does low oil pressure on 2008 Chevy Impala 3.5 V6 LS

Do you mean what causes low oil pressure? This is a very reliable engine for the most part. If the oil light is on or gauge is reading low, have the oil pressure sensor inspected for failure. These sensors do go bad.

Low oil pressure light comes on in 2003 chevy venture?

Oil level? Last time serviced? Oil filter changed? Number of miles? Regular service as required by Owner's manual? Otherwise if none of these are a problem, you may have a failed or failing oil pump. Worst case is bearing problem.

Oil light on 2006 Chevy Aveo but oil levels are fine

The oil warning light is for oil pressure, not the oil level in the engine.
Your owner's manual will explain it in detail.
You need to have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge or replace the oil pressure sending unit to see if it is faulty.

2003 Sierra Pickup 4.8 V8, oil pressure reading very low. I need to trouble shoot. Where is the sending unitl for the oil pressure gauge?

{: ) The engine oil pressure sensor is on the left rear side of the engine block. Remove first the intake manifold sight shield (cover). The 3 wires all go to the powertrain control module (PCM).
Black = low reference ; Gray = 5v reference ; Tan/White = oil pressure signal.

wyet_helps_19.gif On the other hand, the oil level sensor has two wires; Black/White = ground (G103); Brown = oil level signal going to the PCM. See sample diagram below:

wyet_helps_20.gif The PCM monitors the input signals coming from these two sensors, and it will communicate to the cluster (IPC) through Class2 serial data line. The IPC will then indicate the corresponding values on the pressure gauge and will also indicate a warning lamp or message when necessary.

I have a GMC Sierra 2008 and the light of the engine come on and The Oil Pressure is to low, can you tell me what is going on Thanks

Sounds like you are triggering the check engine light due to low oil pressure. I would check your oil level and see if you are ok with oil. If you are then go to the nearest parts store and have them run a diagnostics (free) and tell you what the code is reading. That way you know what is going on. I have a feeling though that your oil pump is going bad and you are going to need a new oil pump
