Lower Rack

  • Remove all of the dishes from the lower dishwasher rack.
  • Pull the lower rack out of the dishwasher so that it rests on the dishwasher door.
  • Lift the lower rack up and out of the dishwasher.
  • Place the new lower dishwasher rack on the dishwasher door, then push it into the dishwasher.
  • Upper Rack
  • Remove all of the dishes from the lower dishwasher rack.
  • Extend the upper rack as far as it will go.

Remove the two plastic end caps, located on the end of each dishwasher arm. To remove, insert a flat-head screwdriver between the arm and the tab on the outside of the end cap, then lift the tap to remove the end cap.
Pull the upper dishwasher rack straight of out the arms to remove.

Insert the rollers on the bottom of the new upper dishwasher rack into the rack arms, then push the rack completely into the dishwasher.
. Align the end caps with the ends of the arms, then push the end caps into place.

How do i remove the top shelf in my GE dishwasher model GDT580SMF2ES?

The top "shelf" is pulled out until the front rollers contact the stops, then it is lifted clear of the stops and pulled out until the rear rollers contact the stops and the shelf is lifted to clear.

Washer makes grinding noise but isn't doing anything else

Remove the cap off the agitator, flip back the top of the console, remove any nuts keeping the tub in the console. There will be a clutch ring that needs to be replaced. I have an older top load washing machine. I agitates, fills, and drains, but it won't spin. It sounds like it is spinning, but it doesn't. It might be the coupling. That is a 3 piece kit that goes between the transmission and the motor. I found the directions how to do it over the internet, got the part and fixed it myself.

Top rack rail contently comming off the rollers. The rollers are wobbly, tried to tighten but will not go any tighter. are there better rollers available? PLD2850RDC2

Typically the roller wheels and the post tabs that hold them onto the sliding rack/guides will wear over time and depending on how heavily your family loads the racks, the sooner you'll need to replace them.

You can order new ones and do the job yourself which is the best solution for the situation you're describing. The only other thing to check is for the rack section that is attached to the inside dishwasher walls to make sure those screws are snug (don't overtighten and strip them out!) other than that, you still will need to replace the rollers on the extendable portion of the rack supports, etc. Hope that helps.

GE Dishwasher Leaks

You can easily screw up the drain diverter arm trying to replace that seal. Repair is difficult. Pump assembly is rather expensive. (especially considering this was not a top of the line model) You would be much better off replacing the dishwasher. The new GE models are much quieter and have eliminated the center tower in almost all models.
