SOURCE: 3975 Challenger only has idle

A couple of questions?

Is this a new product that you are programming or are you reprogramming an existing unit that lost it programming?

When you complete the programming, did you verify the programming was written to the chip and that the chip retained the update?

New DCC HO Loco has NO sound

Sound and motion decoder are the same address. Try F8 that mutes and unmutes the sound, If that doesn't work Change CV 8 to 8, that resets the decoder to factory settings. You will have to re enter the address as the decoder reverts to address 03. If all else fails check that the speaker is wired properly, if that doesn't work you may have a bad decoder that should be under warranty.
Good luck

Spectrum 2-6-6-2 dcc causing system short

Call Bachmann and ask them.
I did,and found them to be extremely helpful.
Here are some other ideas, if you wish to try them.
Take a piece of paper, not cardboard, but a heavier than normal weight, and cut pieces of it into shapes that will fit under the wheels of the loco and tender, and will cover the tracks
If you put a paper under the loco, and none under the tender, perhaps it is OK there, or, if you put paper under the tender, and none under the loco, perhaps it is OK there.
Try to isolate where exactly the short is.
God bless your efforts.

I have a Class 25 Diesel loco which moves very slowly like a shunter on my DCC layout.

Check CV 2, 5, &6 for a main line train they should be :
CV 2 set to 02 start voltage
CV5 set to 154 Max voltage
CV6 set to 128 Mid voltage

Just setup our Christmas present the Lionel polar express set. It ran a few times and stopped and will not go. I have read everything I could find online and even trouble shooter setup and wires. I am

Have you let the loco charge first? The instructions are a bit vague but the loco needs to charge before it runs. Not easily understood from the instructions and many have spent some frustrating hours wondering why their train wouldn't move.

I bought bachmann spectrum 2-10-2 loco just 2 days back. Its front heels and back wheels gets derails very often. I have many other locomotives and they dont give any problem on same tracks but this loco...

sounds like it's too lightweight! try running with a big blob of plasticine on top, to see of it runs right. if it then works ok you need to fill the internal spaces with lead (ask your local tyre shop for the weights they take off wheels when changing tyres)

Why wont my new Bachmann Ho train work. Light comes on, ALL track connections are re-done and great but still no fwd or bkwrd. Anyone???

Had the same problem. The loco would buzz, but no movement. Took the loco & controller to my local hobby shop for testing. Found out my loco was fine, but the controller had shorted out. Swapped it out & it's all good.

Runs for a bit, then stops

Unfortunately the failure can be occuring in several places on this train. The wall power supply, the track command connector, the Treetop Tender or the loco itself.

The REALLY bad news is that New Bright does NOT offer any repair service or replacement parts for thier product. After the 60 day replacement warranty it either works or goes in the garbage.

However.. when the train stops, try taking a volt meter set to measure DC and place one lead on one the inside of the track and one on the outside of the track. You should be reading about 10.5V DC. (flip the leads if it comes out -10.5V)

If the you still have power on the track, then problem is in the treee top tender or the loco itself.

Look on the treetop tender between the wheels. there is an electric motor brush located between each of the wheel pairs. Make sure that they are making contact with the track. This is where the cars and the loco get thier power from the track.

These wear out pretty quick and once again, there are no replacements available.

Lego Loco speaking forgein langage , not english

I've read that the "language" is jibberish on purpose. It's not a language. My problem is that the trees all look like cacti. Can't make them trees!
