two simple things to do:

Does set have sound when a DVD etc is connected to a rear audio/video input? This will rule some things in or out.

In the main menu somewhere are the speakers (internal ones) switched to off or external?

You can go into your picture settings and change your aspect ratio. This should fit the picture to your screen. Sometimes depending on the model this can be done with the remote as a separate button there. Other than that it will be in your menu settings. You'll be looking for 16:9 16:10 4:3 etc etc for the sizes.

You have A BAD Main Board.

eithor the flyback just craped out or the tube went
try turning up the flyback failing that call a service tech and ask for a quote
quote cose 30-50 bucks
atleast you will know forsurre if it's worth fixing

There are two quick things to try:
1) The TV's speakers may be turned off. To turn on: Press MENU, select "Sound Settings", select "Internal Speakers", then select "On" (as opposed to "Off"), and then EXIT.

2) The Sound source may be set to PIP (picture in picture) instead of Main picture. In that case press MENU, select "Picture", select "PIP", select "Select Sound", then select "Main" (as opposed to "Sub"), as the source of the sound, and then press EXIT.
Whatever PIP is set to may not even be connected to the TV so there would be no sound.

The terms and menus used here are from Samsung so they will be different from yours but the concept is the same.

it sounds to me that your display has gone, contact samsung they willl be able to send somone to check it for you.

sounds like ur tuner is bad.. ur better off buying a new tv then geting it repaired
