You could always connect the memory card to a computer and format it through windows (or on Apple) just make sure you format it to FAT32

2GB Micro SD needs format code that I never gave it

Hello,

You can format your micro-SD Card using a software which you can download by clicking this link. I uploaded it to my FTP site for you and it will be there for a limited time. Download that file and save it to your PC. Then unzip that ".zip" file.

If you format micro SD card connecting it to your PC via USB port, it may not ask for password. (I think your phone asks password to format.)

To format your micro-sd card:

- First plug in your micro-sd card into you PC.

- Run the downloaded "HPUSBFW_2.2.3_MASTER.exe" file.

- In the program menu window, select the device (your memory card).

- Select FAT32 as file system,

- Confirm that all the format options unchecked. (Uncheck the quick format option)

- And click the "Start" button to begin formatting.

Hope this helps you.

My phone doesn't recognise my sd card

An 8GB micro SD card will actually be a micro SDHC card. Older SD devices care incompatible at the basic hardware level with the SDHC specification: they can only use standard SD variants. In theory that means a micro SD up to 4GB but in practice I've found very few pre-SDHC devices which will reliably handle more than 2GB SD cards without a firmware update.

I hope that this answers your question and ask in return only that you take a moment to rate my answer.

If it hasn't, then please add a comment with the exact make and model of the older phone and also of the 8GB micro-SD card and I'll investigate further before posting a reply for you.

Sd card format/volume problem

Hi,

Its better to avoid using disk management to format to format the card.

Use this formatter to format(usually the memory cards are factory formatted in the FAT or FAT 3).

http://panasonic.jp/support/audio/sd/download/ftp/sdfv2003.exe

Or

ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/memstick/drivers/MSFMTINST250.exe

Usually its better to format the card using the phone only.

Good Luck.

Problems with formating samsung e250 micro sd card

Did you try to format the card in the device thru Windows Media Player, or Rhapsody? If so, try formatting it thru My Computer instead. My Computer>Device Name>Right Click and select format. It is most likely NOT a virus if you have only put music on the device. It is most likely a corrupt file, or a database error. Best of Luck.
