I have a cata ceramic hob. the child lock has been engaged & is restricting operation of any of the 4 hob's

Child locks on microwaves act as a safety feature to prevent children from getting harmed or from causing other possible damage. The child safety lock does not lock access to the microwave; it simply prevents the microwave from being operated. To remove the child lock press the Stop button three times.

Lock the microwaveIf you wish to re-lock the microwave, perform a similar procedure. Instead of pressing the Stop button you need to press the Start button. Press the Start button three consecutive times to lock the microwave. This enables the child lock once again and prevents the microwave from being operated.

The answer to how to lock and unlock is on page 15 of the manual. It's instructions are: 1. Press the '0' button, the display will show: "PRESS 1- DEMO 2-CHILD LOCK"
2. Press the "2" button, the display will show: "PRESS START"
3. Press the start button and the display will show "LOCK" then returns to the time of day.
At this point the microwave can't be used. To unlock, just repeat steps 1-3.

turn on the hob, press right hand front corner and minus button at the same time, this will unlock the hob (Child Lock) to cancel the child lock press the minus button again immediately after unlocking.
Normal use is restored.

When you hit Start 3 times, it puts the child lock on. You have to hit the cancel/stop button 3 times to take it off.

It sounds like you've activated the child-lock - this would disable all of the digital buttons.

To switch the child-lock OFF, simply press and hold the START button for about 4-5 seconds until "LOCKED" disappears from the display.

To switch the child-lock ON, press "STOP/CLEAR" button once, then press and hold the START button for about 4-5 seconds until "LOCKED" illiminates on the display.

If the buttons aren't working and "LOCKED" is not displayed, then you may have a defective touch control pad.

unfortunately the oven is like a non stick fry pan
It still needs you to wipe over the surface after use
make a habit of using oven bags for cooking fatty foods as that saves the cleaning
as for the hob problem , get in a technician to fix the fault

Sounds like it is the wrong element. I wouldn't like to advise further without seing it. Contact your supplier and ask for an explanation.
