My IBM wheelwriter typewriter will not type..

My typewriter quit typing an impression so I put new ribbon on thinking it had run out but it still is not making impression. Did I accidentally turn something off or what?

We have an IBM SELECTRIC PERSONAL WHEELWRITER II and we changed the ribbon cartridge, and typed ok for a while. Now, the typewriter will not type a dash, underline, comma, period and a few other punctuations. It's weird!! It either won't print them at all or will print them very very lightly. We switched print wheels with another typewriter, but it didn't help? We changed the ribbon again too. What is the problem?
