I plug in my dell computer and the brightness won't come up

How do I adjust my brightness or contrast on my laptop? Every laptop is different, so adjusting the brightness or contrast on your laptop may vary from the steps provided on this page. However, understanding the process of how to adjust the brightness or contrast will help you change your settings.
Most laptops adjust their brightness and other settings using the function key in conjunction with another key. For example, pressing and holding the function key (abbreviated as "Fn") and pressing the up or down arrow keys as shown in the picture below, increases and decreases the brightness.

Laptop brightness is still not enough or screen is black If after following the above steps your brightness is still not enough, plug your laptop into the wall to make sure it is not a power setting that is decreasing the brightness. Locate and press the "-" button on the front of your monitor. This opens the Brightness/Contrast menu.
Press "+" button to scroll through the menu and press "-" to choose the Brightness control.
Press the "+" button to increase brightness and "-" to decrease brightness. The settings will automatically save.

You might be able to change brightness by holding the Fn key plus the brightness up/down key. Look for the two with the sun shape with the up down arrow.

just from the top of my head. But does your dell come with all kinds of dell management software installed ? Lenovo has this to, if you change the settings in control panel nothing works as it should because it's overridden by the companies management software. Check for dell software to manage your pc. Or go to control panel and see if any dell software is there. in that case, uninstall it and the control panel options should work. Bloatware...

Try to change the setting of the brightness in BIOS,
You can access bios by pressing f2 after you turn on the computer, then you will see brightness there, max out the brightness.

If it still does not work then go to the power options of your laptop then change the setting of the brightness when the charger is plugged in.

-click or choose by service tag
-download the BIOS and install it on the computer

there's a buttong located on your monitor. just look for it then set up brightness to watever display u want.

Brightness is adjusted by using the 2 buttons on the left side of the front.
