Cd player keeps opening with cd in it

I can put a cd on the cd tray then push close. It will open right back up again.  Then i hit close again and it opens up again.  Very frustrating.  Also it will do this even without a  cd.  I cannot find any info on how to fix this.

Help please

My cd rom keeps opening and closing! What can I do other then the duct tape my hubby wants to use! Not sure about anything but it is a Northgate!

Old Technics CD tray refuses to open

CD players have plastic gears. The gears can be stripped if someone has pushed the tray instead of using the open/close button. If you hear grinding noises, more than likely the player is shot. Sometimes pushing eject and tapping on the tray at the same time may pop it out. I don’t think a reset will work in your case but it’s worth a try.

I took out all discs. When I tell it to play a disc the table moves back and forth slowly about an inch. After a couple trys "Table Error" shows up. Both belts are old but on.

Tray will prolly need retimed after the belts slipped off the pulleys.
Procedure is with tray brackets removed lift tray in back then push open button to let the cam gear spin around to open position. Then let tray down and try to close it with button. Reinstall brackets and may take a few attempts to get that gear in the right position!

My JVC DR-M70 dvd recorder tray won't close.

Sorry for the delay in following up. My tray problem appears to be resolved, but I wanted to wait a few days to see if the problem returned.

After reading several suggestions on various sites for other makes and models, I started experimenting to see if any would work on my machine. I made several failed attempts before hitting on the right sequence of steps. To the best of my memory, THIS is what finally worked for me:

1) I gently pushed the tray back to it's closed position (note: the solution did not work during previous attempts when I left the tray open)
2) I unplugged the machine for 30 seconds,
3) holding down the remote's open/close button, I plugged the machine back in and immediately pressed the stop button on the player, holding both buttons down for 30 seconds.
4) I unplugged the player AGAIN for 30 seconds, then plugged it back in.

A MIRACLE! Upon hitting the open/close button on the remote, this time the tray opened exactly as it should, and it's been behaving itself ever since. I don't know if any of the steps I performed were unneccesary. All I can tell you is that every time I left out a step, it failed. The first time I followed every step, I had success.

As for my remote: I put in fresh batteries. The open/close button still occasionally tells the tray to open and close simultaneously. tvdokter has suggested cleaning it on the inside, but unfortunately, I only see one screw (inside the battery compartment.) I can't see how to get in without breaking it. Oh well, at least I'm back to be able to play and record my dvds.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I hope this solution will be helpful to someone else down the line. If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free.

Onkyo C-707chx cd tray jammed won't open won't play

I have the same exact problem with my Onkyo C-707CHX and I found a solution that doesn't involve jamming any screws or other metal objects into your cd tray (which could most likely just cause more damage). This way seems a little safer: Power on your device and hit the open button. As soon as you hit the open button quickly push slightly with both hands on both sides of the cd tray that should be opening. You should hear the trays moving around in there and then you have to try to feel for a slight push from the tray. As soon as you feel that slight push, take your hands off of the tray and let it come out. This has been working for me for a while now (and hopefully will continue to work until I take it to get fixed somewhere). The only issue I have run into is that my "Disc 1" open button doesn't work with this method. So I just use this method with disc 2 or 3 and then once it's open I can hit the disc 1 button to get to that tray. So if it doesn't work with one tray, try the other two as well. Hope this helps.

Cd player keeps opening with cd in it

Some small item would appear to be obstructing complete closure
With the drawer open take a good look in side.
Also near the  open button you  should see a small pin hole[sometime on the back of the unit]
This is the emergency eject device in case you get a jam and is operated with the end of a paper clip.
give it a poke with the drawer open  then again closed
See what happens
