Hello sir, Windows 7 AutoCAD 2010 HP DeskJet 1280 All the programs on my compute are printing just fine except for my beloved Auto CAD When selecting the printer, a massage comes " this plotter configuration cannot be used for one of these reasons: the driver cannot be found, the device cannot be found, or the driver has a problem. The None plot drivers has been substituted." I tried to check for driver on hp web site but they don't have one for windows 7, it comes built in as they say, What can I do to print on the 1280?

Right click the setup and use Windows Compatibility Mode for XP. Must run as an administrator as well.

Install the Driver Using Windows Update with a USB Connection (Downloadable Driver Not Available)

As suggest by HP, try this,
HP All-in-One Printers - Installing the Product with the USB Cable and Using the Windows Update Driver or the Driver Located in the Windows 7 Operating System.

There are no software drivers available for the HP Deskjet 1280
Lucky for us because this printer is great.
You can use the HP Deskjet 1220C drivers for this printer.

hmmm.. we only have two computers at my work connected to a router. the designjet has a network card going straight to it. i connect to the router wireless and it reads vista. my boss connects to the design jet thru the router as well with a network card rj cable with xp pro. as for our printer it can be connected via router and does work fine but my boss has it directely connected to his computer and i share it off of his system. then we also have a zerox machine connected via router as well. maybe your router is going out? try a new one or a better one and see if that fixes it. it maybe defected or time for a new one.......

if it was working before then maybe its the router.

I had a same problem, but disappears after reinstalling Windows

1. In the printer under Print Quality and Manual Settings, change the Graphics Mode setting from Auto to HP-GL/2.
2. Use the Enhanced (PCL XL) driver.

I have one question? Has it ever printed Autocad? Have you done a compatibility test from START>All programs>Accessories>
Program compatibility Wizard. You may want to try this as well.
