Usually my camera downloads the pix to the computer automatically when plugged in but it is not happening...help! card is full!

  • kakima Feb 03, 2011

Have you considered NOT connecting your camera to your computer? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Having received no response in over two months, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

I've misplaced the CD that came with the camera, and I'm not sure what, if anything, I can download from the web in order to be able to download my pix.

You could try downloading the digital camera driver from their website here: https://www.digitac.us/SUPPORT.html or if it has a removable memory card, such as an SD card, you can use a card reader to download the images onto your computer. If you plug in the camera to the computer it way automatically recognize it.

Welcome to Fixya

Try the alternate way of transferring the pictures to your computer instead of using cable.

To download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. Just drag&drop pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files.

Fuji Fine Pix F10 camera says ''card full'' when it is not.

If you plug your camera into your computer again and click Start > My Computer. Your camera should be listed under the devices there.
Double click to view what is inside your camera. You will have to browse to a folder in your camera with a name like DCIM (I can not be exact here since it can vary.)
Select and delete all the images you find on the device.
The problem here is that when you downloaded the photographs from the camera to the computer, you did not check the option to remove the downloaded photographs from the camera, freeing up the space for more new photographs.
