What brand is your vacuum? I have a Kirby with the light in the front. Make sure you have the correct bulb with the same size and number of threads. Look on the web under repair instructions for you particular brand and see if there is a description for replacement of the bulb. If you have a vacuum cleaner parts and repair store at your location, then you should call them. Something as simple as changing a bulb on your specific should not present a problem for them. I do not follow what you mean by the holes seem to be closed. Is it that the bulb will not go in the hole for some reason or that you cant install it? Have you tried to see if the old bulb will go back in the hole you removed it from. If it does, then you have the wrong replacement bulb. If it doesnt, then there must be some leaver or somehting you have to engage or disengage to get the hole to open. Of course, make sure the machine is unplugged while you are doing any of these functions.

How do I close off the hole to use the extension hose?

Some units do not have a close off. Simply connect the hose to the inlet or outlet and use to such up dirt, or dust off components.
tip

To remove transmission fluid.

If over fill transmission , you can take a turkey baster ,cut a pencil size hole in the bulb, add on a peice of 3/8 tubing about 3 ft long to the other end.Put the tubing down the fill tube.Squeeze the bulb ,then with the bulb squeezed cover the hole with your finger and release the bulb. Repeat this prosess removing your finger only long enough to sqeeze the bulb again. After doing this several times your turkey baster will be full of trany fluid,Pull your new tool 3/8 tubing and all out of fill tube and drain into an empty container.[ This will remove about a pint of fluid at a time ]

Does the hoover runabout u427-930 have a filter? I replaced the belt and next to the light bulb was a square gray mat that looked like a filter covering a screen full of holes that looked like the motor...

From doing a search on the internet and hoovers website it looks as if this unit does not have a filter. Such as a hepa that needs to be replaced or that is washable. So i think you are safe and dont need to worry about it.

I have the steamtek steam cleaner for 5 months and it will no longer steam!

We had the same problem. I took the unit completely apart and it seems it doesn't like our hard water. I took off the head (one screw at the base and it slips off) and I put a tooth pick into the steamer hole to clean any clogs. Then I ran a cup of CLR through it with equal parts water and it runs fine but not as good as it did new. We are going to only run distilled water through it from now on. Hope this helps!

Lid won't close. I started to put in a new bag but accidentally took out the plastic insert section the bag should attach to--so when I closed the lid over that, I must have pushed a little too hard. Now...

Your supposed to take out the plastic part that holds the bag but the way this unit is designed the lid will not close unless everything is inthere correctly so just make sure evverything in inserted correctly and keep trying! DO you still have your bag holder?

Bissell 9300 carpet cleaner

You put hot tap water (never boil water) into the clear bag through an opened hole in the canister. The dirty water will be correct outside of the bag. You remove the dirty water by open the valve at the bottom of the canister.

good luck
