My computer will not boot up with the Grandtec Keyboard 2500 dongle in the USB port. Once it boots up, I insert the dongle and it works fine. I had this problem with the Vista OS and now with the newly installed Windows 7 OS (on the same computer). The problem does not occur with other computers while using the exact same keyboard.

This sounds like a driver issue .... after plugging in the USB dongle, go to the Control Panel>System and Security>System and select Device manager. After Device Manager opens up you should see "Keyboards". toggle open the triangle, to the left of the word "keyboards", and you should see the 2500 listed. If not, right click on the keyboard listed and select update driver software. Then select "Search automatically for the updated driver software". If a new driver is found, it will ask you if you want to use it. If not, try uninstalling the driver that is there and re-booting your computer. Then when you plug in the USB dongle it should automatically install the needed driver.

USB Mouse works, keyboard does not

You will need to update the drivers on the computer for the docking station. It will be the windows seven drivers or lack of them that is causing a failure to remap the usb ports that the wireless dongle is plugged into.

Cannot start bios even when presssing delete

might be a problem with your keyboard
try blowing out all of the dust from your keyboard using a fine air blower from an air compressor making VERY sure there is no MOISTURE in the lines.
dust causes static which causes lots of problems with a computer and its parts
make sure the lead connection is secure and dust free (if applicable)
make sure the usb device is inserted correctly into the usb port (if applicable)
restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
the restart your computer again during the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup
Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
hope this helps you

Keyboard will not type onto computer screen, and wireless mouse not working either.

Check the transceiver dongle that's connected to the USB port on the computer. Disconnect it and reboot your computer. Once the computer is booted and running, reconnect the dongle and allow Window to discover the device and load the driver. Wait until Windows says it's ready for use. If it doesn't get detected, then the dongle may be bad.

Hello, i currently use a IBM desktop with IBM keyboard and mouse but i just bought a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse which i just installed into my desktop using the installation CD. They are both...

Hi Tony,
It appears that you have an IBM desktop whose BIOS isn't capable of booting off of a USB keyboard and mouse device. Older computers used to require that a PS2 mouse and keyboard be attached before booting, to prevent you from booting a machine without any way of controlling it. You have 3 options:

1. leave the corded mouse and keyboard attached and never use them
2. update the BIOS for your desktop to the newest one in hopes that the updated BIOS will allow for USB mouse and keyboard operation
3. go to a computer store and get a PS2 to USB converter/adapter. They're small and relatively inexpensive. It plugs into the PS2 port, and makes your computer think that there's a PS2 device connected, when it's actually a USB device.

Not responding, batteries good per the tester, dongle plugged in to USB port, was working fine for weeks months

Try testing the mouse in another computer if available to make sure the problem is not the mouse. Also try removing the usb dongle, re-boot the computer, and then re-install the usb dongle in a different usb port then the one you removed it from. This might bring the computer back recognizing the usb mouse. You could also go into the control panel(if you are using windows) and then into the device manager. Then try removing the mouse in the device manager and then re-boot the computer and see if that works.

Just installed a microsoftwireless keyboard 4000 and installed software and it worked fine. When I rebooted my computer would not start untill I unpluged the new keyboard. Tried several times to the same...

Hello There,
This problem is not common,
Try these:

1) Re-install the software - see what happens.

2) Un-install the software if 1) doesn't work and try using keyboard.

3) Read about common problems in the software and keyboard:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258826

4) If all these fail then call Microsoft about this problem and let them diagnose it. They are the makers so they should know what to do.

On boot with battery or on power same result. The computer boots to window sign on screen but mouse and keyboard do not work. On reboot tried F2 for setup screen which does work but then once at setup...

i would have told you to go into the bios but seen as you say that F2 key does not work on boot indicates that the keyboard has failed, to check this try another keyboard and see if you get the same result, or if the keyboard is USB try it in a different USB port

hope this helps

kind regards
