Admiral side by side refrigerator model GS 22X8D3 FRIDGE SECTION HAS A POOR COOLING PERFORMANCE, WHEREAS THE FREEZER SECTION WORKS FINE. MOTOR DOES NOT CYCLE ALWAYS ON.

Changing the freezer settings won't really make a difference because regardless its still going to be freezing. The way the machine works is the freezer cools the fridge, and there should be a control in the fridge that operates the baffles in the airway between the freezer and fridge and reduces the amount of air that enters into the fresh food section.

Replace the compressor start relay.
If this does not solve the problem you most likely have a bad compressor.
Your fridge may be under a 5 year compressor warranty.

Is the back of the freezer section iced up?
If so you could have a defrost problem. All the cooling components are in the freezer section there is a damper controlled by a dial in the refrigerator that opens and closes.
If the damper is closed it will not allow air into refrigerator section. It is seperate from the Thermostat.
If the damer is opened to much you can start freezing food in the refrigerator section.
If there is ice on the back wall of the freezer section. It is not defrosting. There are 3 parts in the defrost process. The thermination stat, the heater, and the defrost timer or it's a timer on the electronic board behind the metal plate on the back of the refrigerator.

Most side by side and other models of refrigerator freezer combinations are of one basic design. The freezer section does the cooling for both compartments. The refrigerator section gets it cold air from the freezer compartment. Therefore check for frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment. If frost is present there you have a defrost problem and it is cutting off the air that cools the refrigerator section.

I think this problem may already be resolved in some manor because of the date of post. Posts should expire after an unreasonable time period.

All the cold air from your freezer gets pushed into the fridge with a fan in your freezer section. So your problem is from the fact that this cold air isn't get to your fridge.
- the door that allows this cold air into the fridge, normally in the top left corner of the fridge, is stuck shut and needs replacement.
-the freezer isn't defrosting and restricting the air flow
-the temp controller for the fridge is damaged and thinks that the fridge is cold enough.

Does freezer cool like the cold food section? Did this suddenly happen, and frozen food began to thaw?  Most freezers control the cooling in the cold food section. The freezer must work fine before the cold food section will work fine. Let us know more, Thanks JT
