Dell 946 All in one printer - not printing

When I try to print I am only getting blank pages. I have tried reinstalling the driver and resetting the printer.

My Dell 946 was printing blank pages. I reinstalled software and ran the test page which printed the color items only, no black. I took out the cartridge, but still no black ink. I'd rather not have buy a new cartridge if I don't have to.
Can you Help with these Printers problems?
