I am having trouble with my washer. It comes to the rinse cycle and starts to drain the water out of the tub, it will not spin and stops working. It smells like something is burning. The motor works find during the agitation cycle. Can you help me? All I have is number 417.90817990 for the washer.

Kenmore stackable washer dryer doesn't cycle (doesn't advance to water fill or wash, drain, rinse, spin) (not spinning, draining, filling?) After the video, we learned it was the points in the timer. It wasn't the black "electrical plug", being plugged into. Get your serial number and google Kenmore timer and you can order a replacement timer. Even if you still have someone come out, you've still saved a bunch!.......ps....I had a viewer make a good point!; I obviously didn't have any issues, but obviously be careful with electrical panel and any loose wires!
Check your drain the drain hose must be higher that the tub or it will run down the drain.
It must be going down the drain or you would have water all over the floor If the water is coming in it has to go somwhere. In rinse cycle it should stay in the tub until the timer kicks it into drain and spin.
try looking at your pump or you need a cupler that goes on the back sid of the motor price range for the pump is 120 dollars and the cupler is 35 dollars dont quote me on the price of the parts please but that should fix the problem.
The front panel comes off and you will be able to trace the water source. These combo units spin immediatly and if the drain is slow the water will spin up over the edge of the tub during drain. Eric
check your lid switch. if your lid swith is bad, it will fill and agitate, but will not pump or spin. therefore it will not go into rinse cycle without being able to pump out water. some lid swithes control the agitation also (usually frigidaire and older maytags), but i doubt yours does. you can check the lid switch for continuity while opening and closing the lid with a meter
We have had that happen too. You will need to take out what ever has blocked the valve on the drain. Ours was a bobby pin! My model is a bit different but if you follow the drain hose underneath you can find it. Remember you are dealing with lots of water. I think I scooped out the water first and have some towels ready. Or hire somebody to do it for you. I hope that helps.
