Hello

Check the power cord and ensure it is firmly connected in the microwave and in the local power supply. If it is not connected completely, certain components on the microwave may work, but others will not.

Remove all other appliances from the same electrical circuit so that the microwave is the only appliance plugged into that particular circuit.

Unplug the microwave and unscrew the light bulb in the microwave. Replace with a new light bulb and plug the microwave back on.

Firmly close the microwave door and press "Stop/Cancel" to ensure the timer was not pressed instead of the cooking feature.

Reprogram the microwave for the desired cooking time and press "Start". The microwave should now cook properly

If all these steps does not work Contact an authorized service technician.

GE Spacemaker XL - fan stopped working, light will come on and timer will count down.

either the magnatron fried , or the fuse fried... either way the microwve has to be taken down and opened up.
If you have the serial number , GE will send you a replacement magnatron (but will not service the unit for you).
contact GE and they will take care of you... the magnatrons are warranted for like 10 years....

I have a GE Spacemaker JVM142K003 over the counter microwave and about a month ago the lights and exhaust fan stop working what can I do to fix this?

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more free information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

GE spacemaker microwave stopped heating

If it is working but not heating, then test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron. If all this are fine, test the control board.

The diodeand capacitors can be tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, evenif power is off.Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Before replacing the magnetron test also the control board.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.

You can also order from MicrowaveSvc , they also provide parts.

GE spacemaker xl microwave oven JVM1440 Two weeks ago after I press 6-express cook stopped and all the lights and clock went blank. In a 10-15 minutes it came back on and the clock would have to be...

Assuming that your internal cooling fan is working, I would suspect that your magnetron is failing.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the
left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

I would check the cooling fan, then suspect the magnetron.

Replacement light bulb for GE spacemaker microwave

That model number doesn't look quite right, but nevertheless:

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

On a counter top model, be sure it's unplugged, but otherwise ignore the instructions above this paragraph.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Lights and Fan not working

Are you talking about the light and fan inside the microwave or the vent fan (in the grille) and the cooktop / stove top lights? Either can be economically repaired. Please clarify and I will give you more detailed information.
