I have a Fujitsu Siemens C1110D laptop. The CPU fan turns on at start up and never comes on again while using the laptop. It then overheats and shuts down in about 10 mins of being on. When I turn the laptop on again, the screen remains blank and the fan keeps running until I hold the power button in (Turn off). If I wait a few mins....I'm able to get it going again for about another 5-10mins. I have tried the following: Updated Bios Reinstalled wins XP replaced the CPU fan reset the CMOS Has anyone any idea what could be causing this. Just before this problem occured....the laptop was feezing a bit...overheating I presume.

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust. Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.
If you take a look on ebay for a keyboard and then look at www.insidemylaptop.com there should be information on replacing keyboards there. Hope that helps.
problem must be with the fan or HDD because these are only two internal devices which does mecanical job inside.
Sometime overheating of CPU or the malfuntioning of RAM make noise thrugh the system speakers.
thermal shutdown. more robust electrical insides (19volt/6.3amp draw; more than most for sure!), so you get way more heat, bigger louder harder working fan, etc....a bit too much, and selfsafety circuit kicks everything off. it uses a desktop cpu, so that's more heat that otherwise a desktop could handle.
I have opened dozens of these in the past and i have one in front of me at the moment...the easiest way to do it is. Get a blank white sheet of paper. Close your laptop and turn it face down. Remove all the screws underneath. As you remove the screws put them on the white piece of paper. So if you remove the screw from the top right then put the removed screw on the top right of the blank white page.
When you have all the screw removed the first thing to come off is the section at the on/off button (about 1nch thick covers the six buttons and has the display on it) Open the screen flat and fully extended.Remember at the back you will need to clip off on both side the grey plastic piece.(beside 2 usb connections and network port) when this section comes off you will see 2 screws underneath for the keyboard to come off...I think you will get it from here....
PS: watch out for the wireless button on the front left... this can pop off when putting it all back together....I'd say somewhere like maplin is a good place to look for one of these fans when you have it removed....best of luck
