I just cleaned the carb and now it starts and runs fine, but starts burning oil after a couple of minutes. Did I get it wrong on assembly?

There is a series of spacers and gaskets that go on in a specific order. I can't remember offhand. If you get them on wrong it can mess up the alignment of the choke control which causes it to bind up and not move freely. That can make the engine run rich and smoke which makes it look like it is burning oil.
Check online for an exploded view of the gaskets and spacers along with the bracket for the choke control. Make sure they are aligned properly.

Trouble starting below 70 degrees

Are you pushing down on the choke lever really hard? These things have a really tight choke lever. I choke mine and reduce the choke to maintain 1500 or so RPM until it is slightly warmed up. Then it runs fine. These are cold blooded machines.

Hope this helps.
