Fujitsu st5112 tablet was working fine then unplugged to go out - and gone. No power, won't boot, black screen. Battery indicator lights when battery removed / replaced, AC light comes on when plugged in - that's it. Any ideas?

There is no f(anything) key - it is a tablet. With a keyboard plugged in, power button (any function key) generates no response.

Try to hit the f8 button after pushing the power button to see if you get a menu. If you do, it will ask you about starting in safe mode, staring in last know good configuration. If you can start in last known good configuration, that will get you back to the last time the computer worked properly.
If that does not work. Remove all power from the laptop for about 10 minutes and try to start it.

Try these ideas and let me know how you do. I stand ready to assist you further.

My apologies for missing the fact that you have a tablet. I researeched you tablet and it appears that there is a shock sensor that may activate when the tablet is moved or carried. The sensor may keep the computer from starting or reacting. Keep the tablet horizontal when you try to start it to deactive this shock sensor.

If this does not work, it may not be this shock sensor. Try using the directions below.
I have attached the link to your tablet's manual. The information on the shock sensor is on the bottom right side of page 35 in the manual.

If you hit the function button (FN) while the tablet is booting up, it acts the same as the F8 button and gives you an advanced boot menu. This will hopefully give you the option to start in safe mode, or go to last known good configuration.

If you get no menu, you can hit the escape button to open the BIOS setup. You can the try to reset the bios back to factory settings to make sure that this is not the problem.

The information on these buttons are on page 24 of the manual.

The manual is located on this link: http://solutions.us.fujitsu.com/www/cont...

Let me know how you do.

    Brian

Hi,
Might be an LCD problem.
Notice if the LCD monitor turns black when you turn it on, turns gray if you turn it off. That means the problem is the LCD, back light/inverter is not functioning anymore.
Tell if that happens.

Thanks for asking FixYa!

Purchased Fujitsu Stylistic ST5112 online, works great but my wife changed the password and now doesn't remember it so we cant get it to open for use. We need to reset or delete password so it can be...

If is is a Windows login password, just reinstall the Operating System and forgo the use of passwords (if you can't remember them). If it is password on boot (before even Windows loads) there is nothing you can do about it, except take it to Fujitsu Certified Service Center to have the password erased.

You should go to the Fujitsu Siemens support web site for your country of residence and download the button drivers compatible with the current OS that you have installed. I will not guarantee that you will find any, but you have got to try. You can also contact the support site for your country.

Pen not work

That's a fairly vague issue, but I might be able to help anyway. I had a tablet PC that was a demo model and when I received it, both pen and touch were either disabled or only partially working. Luckily, a factory reset restored all functionality as if nothing had gone wrong.

Fujitsu almost always set a restore point at initial setup (where it asks for you to partition the hard drive, etc.) so you can give that a shot.

- If you've had the computer awhile, try Windows system restore, found in the control panel or via a desktop search. This can revert changes you've made one iteration at a time until you're in business again.

- If not, reboot and get into the computer setup/BIOS - I can't remember with which key as I don't have a Fujitsu machine anymore - and from there you should be able to restore factory settings and reboot once more.

I know it's not the most detailed account, but hopefully it'll get you pointed the right way.

How do I replace the backlight inverter in my fujitsu st5112?

You have to remove all the screws on the bottom of the unit except for the ram and hard drive covers smaller screws. After taking the screws out, you have to take the battery out, flip the unit on it's screen and while prying (Very gently) on the bottom part you have to push in 2 tabs on the sides of the battery slot. After doing so, pry open by starting at the part where the USB ports are located. Before prying open all the way use a guitar pick/soft plastic tool to run along the crease by the stylus pen holder, there is a small metal piece that holds the 2 pieces together. Lift from the side with the USB ports and unplug the inverterboards connector that goes to the mother board before opening it all the way. the inverter board it stuck on the stylus pen holder with double sided tape.

Hope this helps.

Cant get the application buttons to work in windows 7

From Fujitsu's Support page for the ST5112 you need to install all of
these to get the App buttons working Properly

Button Driver
Button Utilities
Hotkey Utility
And you might also need the Hotkey Driver

That's how I got my St5032D app buttons to work.
If all fails you can also try the vista drivers.

Good Luck

Only can see partial screen not bright enough on ST5112 model

More than likely it is a bad inverter board, I've worked on lots of these units and the majority of the issue with the dark screen is the inverter board.
