I have a maytag 5000 series washer. We are getting an f21 error code. I unscrewed the white drain filter and cleared it. There was little in it. I keep getting the f21 error though. Can you help?

F21 code still flashes after i've unclogged line - reset?

My magtag 5000 series washer is flashing error code F21, It was in the middle of a wash cycle and now the door is locked and it won't open. How do I at least get the door open. I have unplugged the

Unplug the washer. Then plug it back in and press the button that turns it off. This should unlock the door. Same thing happened on mine and there was a kink in the drain hose. Once I unkinked the hose, unplugged it, plugged it back in, turned it off, then I was able to run a drain & spin cycle to get the water out of the load that was in the washer. I then ran a full wash cycle (they'd gotten stuck in the first drain & spin cycle of a wash) and everything seems to be fine now.

Suds display comes on and nothing happens. We have unplugged and restarted the machine and still nothing happens. F21 code comes up (draining problem). Maytag 9000 series with steam.

Too much soap is being used and or lint in the drain pump.
Remove the panel and access the drain pump and clean it out.

Hi, "F21" is a Long Drain error code. This indicates that you have an obstruction in the drainage system. More than likely you probably have a clog in the drain pump. This LINK explains.

Included is a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump to clean. You may also have to remove the inlet hose that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump. Debris can commonly clog in this area as well causing the drain cycle to fail.

NOTE: If these preliminary measures do not correct your problem, you may have to replace the drain pump. It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor. Since the error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and can't pump at the required volume, the error code will continue to appear until the pump is replaced.
If you need to open the door but it remains locked, you can first attempt to unplug the washer for at least 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). If the door remains locked, you can use the manual release to unlock and open the door. The LINK explains how.
NOTE: The Maytag Epic is manufactured by Whirlpool, so these procedures will apply to your washer.

The F21 error code is an indication that the unit has a too long of a drain out condition. If the control call for the unit to drain & the water does not drain out in 8 minutes or less the unit will stop & flash the F21 error code. I would recommend checking the drain pump & pressure switch circuit.

F 21 means slow drain if you can here the pump that means something pluging it. remove lower kick plate . the pump will be there remove cleanout counter clockwise turn .put back together.. hope this helps...good luck

Unscrew 3 T20 star bit screws attaching kick plate to front of washer.Unscrew (counter clockwise) filter to pump assembly & remove any debris (missing socks & whatnot). Re-assemble.Run clean cycle with cleaning tablet. Resume normal usage.

thank you, that's exactly what we're doing now. Found the filter clogged with pet hair, a ponytail holder and gunk. Smelled absolutely disgusting, so we ran the filter under hot water and reassembled. Now running through with Affresh. If this works I think it will take care of not only my F21 error code but the contact "suds" message. I will be having my husband clean out this filter often from this point on.
