Does it turn for just a moment or does it keep turning?

If it's just for a moment, that's normal.

If it stays on, either your top or bottom door switch is sticking or it's door switch mount is loose or broken.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. Other times, it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

Why do I hear a popping noise when turntable revolves counterclockwise.

If the turn table automatically picks up the tone arm and starts the record and changes after the record is over, then you are haering the gear box.

Why is the microwave running without being turned on?

These above range microwaves "hoods" automatically turn on a cooling fan even when the microwave is not in use. If you read the manuals you will see warnings about the fans automatically starting. Even when the microwave is not in use opening the door likely interrupts the power to the automatic cooling fan.

Turntable turns when door opened

This is usually caused by a defective door switch, or it may be out of aligment. Since there are a few of them a digital meter is required to troubleshoot the problem area. If you have the equipment I well describe how to test them.

I have a model number EM925RSL-B and the timer counts down but it does not heat up or turntable does not move?

I just bought an RV with the exact same microwave and the exact same problem. The problem with mine is the switch that detects that the door is closed is not getting activated. The reason for this is is the finger at the top of the door is damaged as well as the plastic piece that the finger grabs onto when the door is closed. This causes the finger not to come into contact with the switch. To test this you can turn your microwave on and start it. open the door and using a small screwdriver, depress the micro switch you can see upper right side of the door opening. then press start again. your turntable will start turning and the microwave will make a louder noise as a fan will turn on. CAUTION! Release the button as soon as you see the turntable rotation as you will be receiving microwave energy due to the door being opened.

Ge spacemaker xl1400 model# jvm141obc Turntable still turns..but while making grinding sound Please help

My wife noticed a strong smell of something burning inside our home. Luckily we were home. The microwave was NOT on...and the turntable was turning and making that grinding sound. When I opened the door, the turntable kept turning....all digital lights were OFF. The microwave does not work. I am extremely angry that this unit was able to continue to grind unnoticed. If we were not home, I assure you that this would have caused a kitchen fire. The upper inside portion was extremely hot to the touch and the cabinet on top of the over-the-range microwave was also very hot. This would have easily caused ignition and a subsequent kitchen fire. I am going to report this to the UL.

Turntable stopped turning

Some microwaves have a button on the control panel that disables the turntable. Make sure that this button hasn't been pressed.
Next most likely causes are a the stirring (turntable) motor has malfunctioned or possibly a turntable belt is broken or slipping (if equipped). This will involve opening up your microwave (and probably removing it from the wall), diagnosing the problem, ordering the parts, then replacing them.

Remember, while you can do some repairs on your microwave, what you don't know can kill you... even on an unplugged microwave, so make sure you understand the dangers and how to reduce them before you try anything inside a microwave. If you want to do more yourself, let me know and I will point you in the direction of some good resources.

When microwave opened automatically turns on

Sounds like it has a bad door switch. I would unplug the unit and have an experienced technician check it out. Microwaves can be very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

Microwave seems to turn on when door latch is opened

What's happening is you are activating one door switch a little before the other, and that is causing your light, fan, and turntable to come on. The plastic parts are not perfectly rigid, so they flex a little when you press the button, and that causes the lag to be more apparent. Even if you press the door open faster and look really close, you may notice the light, fan, and turntable coming on for a split second. That's perfectly normal. The relay on the control board must also be turned on before it will actually be cooking.

Turntable Problem

If it jumps or moves just a little when you open the door, that is normal. It it actually runs, then you have a problem. Quite often this is due to a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP button) is the primary cause of door switch failure.
