Follow these steps to make it work... TIP: Focus on the printer it self. make sure that it can copy (b&w and color) fine.
If your done reseting the printer go to the next step Solution #2 Clean the All-in-One and make a blank copy Before you begin, gather the following materials:

  • Several clean, soft, lint-free cloths
  • Mild glass cleaner
Step one: Clean the scanner glass and lid
  1. Press the power Button to turn off the product, and disconnect the power chord at the back of the printer.
  2. Open the scanner lid, and remove any originals from the scanner glass.
  3. Spray a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with mild glass cleaner.
  4. Wipe the scanner glass and the white underside of the scanner lid with the dampened cloth.
Step two: Clean the automatic document feeder ADF
  1. If the product is not already off, press the Power button to turn off the product, and disconnect the power cord from the product.
  2. Locate the ADF frame to the left of the white underside of the scanner lid.
  3. Press the ADF frame release.
  4. Unhook and remove the ADF frame.
  5. Lightly dampen a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with a mild glass cleaner.
  6. Use the dampened cloth to clean both sides of the transparent film, and the white strip in the center of the ADF frame.
  7. Clean the ADF frame.
  8. Re-Install the ADF Frame

Step three: Make a blank copy
  1. Remove any originals from the scanner glass.
  2. Load plain white paper in the input tray.
  3. Press Start Copy Black to make a blank copy.
  • If the copy is clean, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the copy has vertical bands, lines, or streaks, there might be dust inside the product, poor internal connections, or the product might be damaged. Contact HP's Printers support department @ 1-800-474-6836

Epson workforce 610 printing improperly

have the printer being discussed in this thread.... the Epson WorkForce 610. I just encountered the same issue, many lines were missing from the page that I wanted to print. Ink levels were fine, but every time I try to print the same thing, the same lines were missing. I read through the solutions mentioned above and I decided to see what the printer had in its maintenance toolbox on the printer itself.

Here's a solution that worked for me!

1. Go to "Setup"
2. Under Setup, select "Maintenance"
3. Select "Head Cleaning"

The printer does the head cleaning automatically. Print another page, all of the lines should show up!

Simple, no need to buy another printer or clean the ribbon...

My Brother HL1230 printer prints with whole lines of text missing several times on a page and gets worse by missing more lines if printing several pages. It has a new toner cartridge. How can I sort this...

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

Good Luck

When I print blue horizontal lines appear or being printed as wel

Do the cartridges ride on the printing carriage, or do they plug in somewhere else in the machine and have hoses that run the ink to the print head? If they ride on the printing carriage and the cartridge is new, there could be a short in the printer and it needs repair. Check if there's ink smeared on the print head or part of the printer. Generously clean the print heads with lots of paper towels and rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, to see if it's an issue with computer, print a test page from the printer, but don't send the print job from the computer. You need a print job generated from inside the printer itself. Not every printer can do this, but try pressing paper feed, holding down paper feed and power, or holding down cancel and power. If the blue lines disappear then but they didn't when you cleaned the heads, it's a software issue.

Horizontal colored lines through grayscale printed photos

Hi George,

It sound's like an ink-feed issue:

1) Dirty heads, even after cleaning
2) No-ink or poor quality ink
3) Damaged head: some are part of the cartridge, some are not
4) Air bubbles in ink

The test page is typically not as hi-res nor as saturated as a
photo print. The hi-res photo puts the greatest demand on the print head.

The color lines you see are actually lines of missing color,
where the head has failed to deposit ink, so one or two primary
colors are missing from the complete picture.

For example missing yellow will make a blue line.
Missing magenta will make a green line
Missing cyan will make a red line.... etc..

Clean the heads again and again, print again and again,
hoping to flush the system.

BUT, keep in mind that cleaning wastes huge amounts of
ink and tiny little cartridges of ink cost more than many new printers.

I have blank lines through my printouts

Run the cleaning cycle. If that doesn't work, try to use an alcohol soaked swab on the print head. Some of the jets are clogged.
