Hello,
Without wasting your time, what you are asking of is not possible. You cannot add a remote control capability to a TV that doesn't have on.
I hope you understand the above.
Good luck.
In theory ..you should be able to add a control board for a remote ..and connect a few basic functions ..but ..I think that will be best if you have a channel receiver and use the control from it ..to change the channels and make the volume adjustments ..for example ..also ..each device connected on it and which have a remote ..will be able to control functions for image settings and volume from its own settings ..
Good day,
I think is impossible to to add a remote control if your tv has no IR remote sensor in it. It is only possible to hook up a remote control if you have a PC hook in your tv, by installing PC remote control and TV Tuner that is available in Computer Shops.

Do the IR circuit boards usually plug into the power supply or into the main board? I just replaced my power supply and it came out of a unit that has remote capability and there are some extra spots to plug things into. I was wondering if I got a viewsonic IR board, would it be able to plug into one of these spots and work?

What do you mean by channel receiver?
