SOURCE: my laptop can't find my wireless router

What you can do is power cycle your router first. Unplug the power for about 30 seconds then plug it back in. If that doesn't work, its an interference issue on your router. You can simply change the channel on your router by accessing the router's Setup Page or Admin Page.

the best would be trying to upgrading your router to a new firmware like tomato or dd-wrt which has much better features and your wireless device would start working.

www.dd-wrt.com that is the one i use and its fantastic.

Wifi password reset

Once you log into your router click on the wireless link.
On the bottom of the wireless page click security.
Here you can change your wifi security.
Once done just click apply and the that's it.

Note: Once you change the wifi security settings you will have to reconfigure your wireless devices with the new wifi security.

My friend is at my house and wants to connect his laptop to my network but mine is prtected and i dont know how to turn off the privacy to let him in

Have your friend right click the wireless icon and open the "view available wireless network" on their machine.
(assuming they are using windows wireless, if not there will be an icon in the system tray showing the wireless).
The window that opens will list all available networks.
Choose your network and then click on "connect"
The next window will ask for your "key" (which you should know).
If all is successful, it will "acquire an ip address" and then you will be connected.

How do I change channels on the 4 Port Wireless Router, ADSL2/2+. Need to change from channel 9 to channel 1.

Manual for DSL-2640B:
ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/dsl_routers_modems/dsl-2640b/DSL-2640B_Manual_v1.pdf
How to change channels see page 27.
For manual channel setting "Enable Auto Channel Scan" needs to be
disabled / not selected.

Note: default login user and password for the router is both admin.
Login opening Internet Explorer entering http://192.168.1.1 as address page.
