I have a hotpoint wf840 washing machine (6 years old) and the wash program will not complete the drum turns but will not advance to the end or spin and on the front facia it states f-08 what does tis mean

Sounds loike the main drum bearings have failed.
Spin the drum by hand from the front, and if it feels rough, or is rumbling or grating, then the main bearigs have failed.
Quite an expensive repair, unless it is covered by the Hotpoint 5 year parts guarantee, check with Hotpoint.

Try the following, may work:

1. Press the Start/Cancel button together until all the console Led's illuminate
2. Press both Start/Cancel and On/Off buttons together until 'd off' appears
3. Default screen should return and you can select a new programme

You need to check the filter.
Remove lower rear cover of washer.
Remove large black hose on bottom of drum.
Remove and clean filter inside hose.
Fit back and test.

Error F-02 is a slow drain problem. Undo and remove the wide tapering pipe from the bottom of the drum to the pump. Inside you will find a non return ball valve, clean this and your problem should be solved

Code f03 means wash thermistor open circuit, this is normally part of the heating circuit, suggest you test heater and thermistos located in the end of the heater, and replace if necesscary. If heater o/k , then could be bad connection to control module, or broken wire, if still no joy, then call Hotpoint.

If you spin the drum by hand, and it is niosy and rumbling then the main drum bearings have failed.
If under 5 years old, then you should be able to get it repaired under Hotpoint 5 year guarantee, You just pay for labour and call out, cheapest option, it is not really a D.I.Y job, as it is quite involved, and entails a lot of work.

Suspect motor brushes need replacing.
Simple task accessed by removing the top of the washer and releasing the clips holding the brushes into the motor - clip on back of brush - to remove the brush assembly.
Replace complete brush assembly.

INSPECT THE BELT MAKTYBE BROKEN OR CAME OFF ??????????LET ME KNOW

This is not something like a belt or a motor then...It's probably the Logic in the control system.

Your best bet is have a hotpoint engineer diagnose it - and fit a new control module. To buy from hotpoint they range from 70 to 90 Sterling.

In england the call out is £90 and they actually don't charge for parts if the machine less than 5 years old.

all i can suggest with the info you have given, is to remove the lid and check for anything lose like the weight block etc also have you checked the inner drum for play, maybe the bearings have gone please not to all it is not safe to continue to run machines that are making noises, they can only get worse making more damage, what can start off as something silly can eventually write off the machine start with that and see how you go, glad to help, if i have helped please rate me
