My HP NC6320 CPU is running on 100% at all times, even after full disc format and hard drive replacing. I also fleshed a new BIOS to the ROM. what can I do? the PC is painfully slow..

the RAM is 1.5GB and only 513MB is being used.

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2011

It only recognizes 513MB but you know you have 1.5GB? If you right click "My Computer" and select properties what does it say?

Installed new hard drive and memory stick and now hp laptop will not power up and the cd rom will not open.

NO PC told all, HP made 10,000 models we can;'t just guess it blind.
sorry can not.
CDs are all dead if power is dead,
The problem here is doing many things at once
do not do that, or get in to big trouble.
THE new HDD is 100% blank and not even formatted it is spinning totally blank media. (needs OS installed or it will never boot windows)
does memory stick mean USB stick or DDR stick(inside)
I will guess now, Old laptop, hP.
power pack must be good , 19vdc
the big battery is no good get it out and run on AC power pack only
the COIN cell battery can be dead at 7 years old. no PC told
then we test BIOS next , not windows.
power on by holding power button for 10 full seconds.
this is the intel reset. (safe as can be)
next is fans blow.
next is LED glow
next is see HP splash screen seen for ages, but must be there.
at the splash hammer F10 (bios old) 2015 or older.
or if newer PC, hammer ESC to see BIOS page one
check time and date
there and set boot order to USB first , HDD0 2nd.
CD last.
if loading a new OS from USB memory make USB first
if loading same with CD make it first. in boot order.
click save , click exit
and cold boot PC with install media in place.
a dead CD try means loss of power or CD is bad.the drive.
or loss of power. totally.

HP Pavilion dv7-1285dx keeps overheating and shutting down

sure it does all PCs do that, full of lint, all do.
we clean it.
it has fan and vents
all fans all vents and heatsinks must breath or it overheats.
all do that not cleaned, drive your car around with the radiator blocked, boom.
all PCs run slow overheated, by DESIGN.
this slow down , reduces heat, and saves CPU/GPU burn up.
just like my chevy, truck, it cuts cylinders to save the engine.
same deal both.

same deal; same reasons.

Monitor to other cpu and it works fine. Tried recovery tools and rcovery disc but receive errors, boot from cd rom no emulation, and no hard drive found. Help!!!!

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

I try to format my compaq evo N800c with my Windows XP professionnal cd and I get stuck. The laptop format, copy files and shut down to reboot. But he don't restart. I make a check disc. First time...

lots of reasons for this,
bad hdd, tops list.
XP from microsoft or HP? or from hackers?
is this disc real or from CD-r recordable made by whom?
does PC work ok with battery out, they love to short.
does BIOS work ok? seems yes.
did you take out the CD when the OS setup.,exe installer told you to?
the first big step in the install. that first reboot, take out the CD
or the cd can go back to step 1, run the CD, endlessly. doing that.

that Disk check, is in BIOS, right, and we all know its like a toy right?
I use knoppix linux live boot stick and run full HDD tests off it.
100x better that. and the smart status screen
if it SHOWS< no more spare SECTORS, that means the HDD IS AT THE END OF LIFE, as all HDD do. every one.
all HDD self heal , until the bandaids run out. and ends.
end of life.
if knoppic runs and disk test passes
then what is wrong, bad install media.
or worse, there is always worse on old Pcs like.
bad RAM
bad CD or DVD reader. (very common)
and even a weak power pack.. good, bad, or weak they can be.

ever run USB memory sticks, time to do that.
it installs the OS way faster and needs no working CD to do that.
no cd no drive, is best,
like new PCs, have no cd drive.

is yours with DVD drive? that too helps the helper.

looking in the hp parts surfer, DVD drive was an option
take the CD, make and ISO from it.
and ISO file then use RUFUS (free) to burn the ISO to USB stick
now boot that stick . to load XP

good luck with XP the virus magnet.... and zero support now for 3 long years.

My nc10 reported the 'operating system not found' a week or so ago. I've tried everything including trying to reload windows xp from a USB [as the netbook doesn't have a cd drive] At this point I just want...

Sound like your hard drive has crashed so bad that the notebook does not even know it is there. I would replace the hard drive and try to reinstall from external cd-rom . Make sure the external cd-rom is recognized in the bios settings Good Luck

Hi,

No problem. You need to enter The bios, And get the computer to start from The CD/DVD rom drive.
Put windows in the Drive, and you should be able to reboot from there with options to Format et,c.

Any problems Just Ask.
