I have a JVM 1650SH01 Spacemaker Microwave oven that one day worked fine and next day I put a cup of water in to heat and ran the one minute button. The oven made a normal droning noise and after one minute the Water was still cold. I think the magnetron tube and or diode is gone or is there a fuse in this magnetron circuit> Everything else - timer, clock date and lock/unlock functions seem to work. Where in Fort Wayne, IN can I buy a new magnetron tube? Can it be fixed in place in it's position over the stove or does it need to be removed and put on the bench? Mmmm it's so easy,
First disconect the power, take the cover off, moslitly there would be 5 screws and two tab's on the top.
inside on the right hand side the magnetron it's a sylver box measuring about 4 in x 4 in x 5 in. It will have a plasic cover moslitly that would have to be remove first then on the magnetron there is 4 crews and one connector.
It should fall downard after.
If you have a power supply after the secondary , that may also be your problem.

Regards

Bob

SOURCE: Oven stops after a few seconds

I like the information you give.
If the unit will work with the control Panel at a 45 degree angle it tells me you have a loose connection. The 45 degree angle puts enough pressure on the connection to keep it completed. With the Control Panel in it's normal position, the loose connection Heats and Opens the connection. After it cools connection is again made until it Heats up again. Remember Expansion, Contraction. I do not believe you have a Magnetron issue!! A Magnetron does not know if the Control Panel is at an angle.
Can you hear a slight "Click" when the unit shuts down? If so this is a relay opening. When you say you replaced the Control Board. Was this the Control Panel PC Board, or was it the Cook-Relay Control Board? A Door Switch not making solid contact can do this. Is your Door latching down solid? Check for loose connections, not open LOOSE.

SOURCE: Magnetron will not run. I

You have replaced all those and still no go, well, In that case the main controller board is most likely faulty too. This is common, for the controller board and or power supply has been spiked.

We have a GE Spacemaker XL 1800 Microwave. There is dirt and moisture that has collected between the inside and outside glass. How can you clean this?

HELLO.

This is the solution to the cleaning issue.

1. Wipe the microwave inside and out with a soft cloth dampened with a warm, mild detergent solution. Rinse with a soft cloth dampened with plain water. Dry with a soft, dry cloth.

2. Put 2 cups of water into a 4-cup measuring cup. Place the measuring cup in the microwave, then heat on high for 5 minutes to loosen food particles that are stuck to the inside walls. Leave the measuring cup inside the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes, then remove and wipe the interior as in Step 2.

3. Remove the glass turntable and wash it in the sink with mild detergent or in the dishwasher. Handle carefully, as the turntable is breakable.

Thanks.

Not heating up anything

Tat would be a magnetron problem. The magnetron is what provides the heat

Doesnt heat up

in a microwave, there is no heating element. There are microwaves that heat up the water molecules, they make them spin fast and that's what heats things up. Running it with nothing in it, you really can tell if it's not working by that test either, again, nothing to heat up. I would put in a cup of water, set on high for 3 minutes and it should boil, if not, get a new one for the price, why mess around?
