This is most likely the water seal trap is dry (no water in the p-trap under the tub) if you don't use the tub very often the water in the p-trap will evaporate out and leave it dry. The water in the trap in the drain serves only one purpose and that is to seal the drain so that sewer gas con not come back into your home.
Now if you use the tube all the time and you are getting sewer gas out of it then the p-trap is leaking and will not seal the drain with water.
Now to cover all the bases if it is a lack of use deal then you need to pour water into the drain once every week or so, more often if needed. If you well not be around to do this then you can pour mineral oil in the drain this will act the same as the water but will not evaporate out and when your ready to use the tub it will drain just fine.
Hope this helps
I hope you put trap back on,or you need to fill trap with water--that is the water seal for sewer gas
Hi
The smell usually comes
when the unit is unable to drain water completely, you can run your dishwasher at
its hottest temperature setting with 2 cups of vinegar inside the unit. After
this take off the lower front panel and clean the drain pump assembly completely, also clean the
drain hose, the smell should disappear after doing all
this. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.
