I recommend you isolate the problem first by trying to plug the AC adapter while in safe mode.to do this you need to restart your system while restarting keep on tapping the F8 key. choose safe mode first then press enter.plug the AC adapter. If it will do the same thing that it will hangup, you need to report this to Toshiba and have them replace the motherboard and AC adapter. If it works fine in safe mode. i recommend you reinstall your OS (vista xp win7).thanks

My laptop is not powering on help

1.Connect the Ac adapter to a known good power outlet. Check the Power LED indicator on AC adapter (without plugging into the Notebook). We are only checking the power AC adapter to see if that is working.
2.If LED on the AC adapter is not lit (when unplugged from notebook), reseat the AC adapter brick and cable. If still there is no light on AC Adapter replace AC adapter and Power cord.
3.If LED on the AC Adapter goes off only after connecting to Notebook, the issue is with the motherboard. Replace Motherboard, DC-In port (AC adapter connector).
4.If the AC Adapter LED is always ON, take a technician's help and reseat the Power Button Board. You can refer to the Service Manual for details on how to reseat the Power Button Board. (NOTE: Before the notebook chassis is opened ensure all the power connections including battery and external devices are disconnected)

Dell latitude 610 AC adapter issue or battery pack issue or both?

It could possibly be the power jack that is inside the computer. This item is typically soldered onto the motherboard and it is what your ac adapter plugs into.

Hello, when am using the Ac power adapter with my Toshiba satellite it hangs but when am running on batter it works perfectly. what can i do

I suggest you try another adapter which is known to be working without problems. If the problem disappears, then your AC adapter is defective & needs to be replaced.

Cannot turn on my laptop only the start button light turns on but no screen display and a few noises help

This is only the first of many things you may need to do to determine the fault. But it is a process for determining the exact cause.

Make sure the ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.

If everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on, follow these steps to complete a 'power reset' of the notebook.

  1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.
  2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
  3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)
  4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (Please note that a power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in).
  5. Normally power on the notebook.
  6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
  7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
If the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.

My Gateway NV5386u battery died and the computer shutdown. When I tried plugging it in, it still would not turn on. The adapter part of the charger has a green light, indicating power is being applied, but...

Often when a battery is real flat, it hangs up the entire system. What you need to do, is remove the battery completely, as the laptop should be able to be powered by the AC adapter itself. You may find if that is the case that your battery has gone bad, and you will have to replace it. If your laptop, will NOT work from the AC adapter, then either the adapter is faulty, or there is an internal vault, in the Power conditioning circuitry inside the PC. Try another adapter, if still no go, then it is definitely an internal problem.

Travelmate only powers up with battery inserted. But AC still charges battery. Orange light goes on and of

Sorry to tell you this but you may have a problem with the charging system. That will require you to return it to Acer or an Acer service center. You can also try this. I got this from Acers' travelmate support website:

If the notebook does not power on:

Make sure the ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.

If everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on, follow these steps to complete a ‘power reset' of the notebook.
  1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.

You can aslo google your specific model of Travelmate to see if others are having this issue.
