Canon PIXMA MX330 all-in-one printer- trying to print document. When I turn the printer on I get an error message on printer display: "Document in ADF. Redo operation after checking document in ADF and pressing OK". I check the ADF (it's fine) and press OK. No joy. printer just bips at me and displays error message: "Document in ADF. Close the feeder cover and press OK to eject document". There's no document in the ADF. Very frustrating. Is it worth repairing, as in cost prohibitive, or cheaper to buy a new one? Please advise. thank you

SOURCE: Canon MX330 - trying to use ADF. No doc inside on

Canon Pixma MX330, ADF error, Code : 2,103,0
Here's what I found. There were no stuck gears or pieces of plastic caught anywhere.
The ****** can still feed paper, except for (consistently) the last page -->error/stuck.
1) In order to CLEAR THE ERROR you need to do two things
a) & b):
a) Press OK, WITH THE HOOD OPEN, with a piece of paper loaded in the ADF, being careful to grab the paper manually as it comes out of the bottom of the hood.
b) Windex the strip of glass surface which sits under the ADF next to the platen. This needs to be done with attention to minute detail, and a bright LED flashlight; since ink smudges off of documents and collects on the glass with alarming frequency. The machine may think these smudges are caught/jammed paper.
2) In order to SCAN a stack of paper, add one blank sheet to the bottom of your document. This page will be the one that
fails to clear the ADF, generates an error, and must be manually cleared before the next job.
The rest of your pages will have already scanned.

When i try to scan a document i get a message telling me to place the doc in a certain way.

I'm not familiar with this type op multifunctional, but from what I know is that the software might suspect a certain size of document. When the document you need to scan is smaller or somehow in another size, it is not recognizing the document. See if there is an option in the software for custom document sizes.

I want to scan with canon mx330 without ink in the printer

I have a canon mx330 fax print and scan all in one printer
To scan without ink just hold the back button in after the ink message comes up it should eventually take you to the main menu then you can hit the scan button.

Document in ADF

None of these worked for me. Here is my FIX:
Open the part containing the rollers. You can see a white plastic part which stop the documents feeded into the adf. Lower this part and insert a page into the adf just a bit further than where it would have stopped from that white stopper. This forces the machine to feed the document and clears the error right away. You only have to do this once and from then mine worked fine.

PIXMA MX330 Error message "Document in

Hello,
The sensor may be dirty even if it looks like there is no paper jam. Take a bottle of compressed air and give it a once over. Make sure you don't shake or tip the compressed air as you don't want to fast freeze anything.
If this does nothing, you probably have a failed sensor which will need replacing.

Get message "communication error has

I would go inside the devices and printers and preferences and see if there are any documents pending. Erase those. Check with your little icon on the desktop and check printer status or you could even go to the extreme of deleting canon in add and remove and reinstall from the canon website. Obviously with windows 7 if you just plug in you will get driver installed but printer runs much more smoothly if you first download the software package from canon.com and then link up wirelessly.

But first check that a document isn't pending printing.

Cant get my canon mx330 printer to work

Multifunction devices usually require two separate inks to acquire functionalities. For example, an empty ink cartridge especially the color ink may still produce copies without multi ink features. However, any attempts to dismaunt the ink cartridges would require restorations from the computer settings. First, inspect the printer for empty accessories that require replacements. After acquiring and replacing ink cartridges makes way for the next processes. Second, connecting the printer that has been restablished would produce display results requesting printer copy allignments. Attempt to print a document to produce the results for alligments. My canon pixma mx330 color cartridge is half full but it give an error of U163 replace color cartridge. How can I fax without color cartridge.

Please try this solution first, it might resolve your faxing transaction by resolving first the u163 error.

What happened when ink ran out from a refilled cartridge and the printer detected it?

The printer will display an error U162 or U163. All functions of the all-in-one printer will stop and your printer will not work. The next thing you will know is you are in the front of a computer shop and buy a genuine canon cartridge.
But wait, there is still a way to fix this. Reset it again using a different procedure. Reset the detections of reusable cartridge.
1. Turn off your printer an turn it on again
2. After the printer initialize try to copy or print. The error will appear.
3. When the error is displayed on the display panel of the printer, Press and Hold the STOP/RESET button and wait until it self restart.
4. Release the STOP/RESET button the the printer is restarting.
5. Wait for a few seconds and the pending print jobs will commence.

Thanks for using Fixya.
