I have the headset icon problem where the headset with mic is on the top of my screen and the phone does not have sound unless you have the headset in. It will not go away!! I am upset as I have only had this phone for just over a month...htc hero. How do I get rid of this???? I have already tried putting headphones in and out, turn phone off and on, remove battery????

This unit rquires special kind of screw driver for mobiles or gadgets. Normally, its a star shape screw driver. You must take apart the unit's casing by removing all the screws for you to dry the unit. There's a cover at the back panel that you must remove first

If your son has his own facebook page then you can go to the apps store and download an app called syncmypix which will download all of your contacts who are on facebook's profile pic (there may be other apps out there that do the same thing, I'm not sure)

I've only tried this recently so not completely familiar with this but think it will only download the current profile pic.

Haven't got my Hero with me right now so can't play with it to see if there's other better solutions.

It sounds like your device may be paired with a Bluetooth headset. Try turning off bluetooth connectivity and see if that fixes the issue.

This was a software issue when first released. Make sure you do a software update, usually this can be resolved by plugging the headphones in and take them out again as this will normally resolve.

Is your Recording Device Set to the mic on that Headset ?
Right click on the sound icon on the bottom right and press Recording devices , Then enable the mic on that list

Caller can't hear me
if everything works fine check your audio setings lower right side of your screen right click on the speaker icon check playback devices and recording devices select using the drop down on the menus if there are other audio devices on the list try selecting that and play around your Mic if you can do a recording on microsoft and check if the mic is in mute undet the sudio properties under sounds check th mic settings ..... ^_^

I cant get the headset icon turned on
All you have to do is plug in the mic, go to Accessory Settings, pick the correct mic for input and output, and test whether the mic is working by talking and looking at the sound level. Then when you go online to play COD4, there should be a mic icon next to your PSN. It should light up when you speak. There is no button to push.

you haven't mentioned it that i can see but when you have the green plug into the green can you hear sound ?... if so look for the speaker icon on the lower right of your screen. open that to volume control.... look at the mic setting... is the mute box marked ? if so uncheck it and try the mic again

Sx66 cant hear people and they cant hear me
i encountered this problem after i started using a bluetooth headset. when the headset is not in use (not turned on, not even with me), sometimes there is no sound from the speaker, and the other party cannot hear me. meanwhile, the call timer is clicking away indicating the call connected. it seemed there was some issue in the bluetooth stack, and the phone thought it should be communicating with the BT device rather than it's onboard speaker/mic. to resolve, i disconnect the call, go to the main screen; in the bottom right corner, use the bluetooth manager icon to turn BT On then Off again. this resets the phone's speaker/mic usage, and calls can be made like normal. i hope this helps you.

I can only try and answer the question, but asking you some questions, sorry, not enough details. But try these so you can identify if settings are the issue or a malfunction in the mic. You may have tried these, but the more info you give, the better the answer.

Did this just all of a sudden happen? Or has it been happening for a long time (up to the time you got the phone)? Do you have a corded/wireless headset? Do you see on your screen, in the top left corner of the display, an icon of a phone with a red X overlaying the mouthpiece? This is an indication that the phone is muted. Press the top of the phone the button that has the icon symbol of a speaker with a slash through it. This toggles the mute.

Mic doesn't work
Is anything blocking the mic? Maybe there's a sensitivity setting on the headset or the phone? I'd recommend connecting it to a Bluetooth Enabled PC and try recording with sound recorder to test the sound quality/volume. If it's ok on the computer, it's a problem with your phone. If it's still quiet on the computer, I'd recommend you send the headset away for repairs/replacement of defective device.
