Tv setup - cannot get past auto channel

Connect the TV to the Comcast box using an HDMI cable, then set input on the TV to HDMI - that's all. You then select channels on the Comcast box , not the TV (although the TV remote can be programmed to change channels on the cable box)>

I need to program my cable box

The real problem with the Comcast remote is that there is no other brand, it's not like a Sony remote that's relabeled or anything. Fortunately, Google helps again, and it turns out Comcast has a page online about programming the Comcast remote control.
comcast_remote.jpgComcast 3-in-1 remote control To program the remote to work with your Sony TV, you need to take the following steps:
  1. Find the code or codes for your TV from Comcast's list [PDF]
  2. Turn your TV on
  3. On the remote, press and release the TV key on the very top of the remote.
  4. Press and hold the Setup key, until the "TV" key flashes twice, then release the "Setup" key.
  5. Using the number pad, enter in the first 4-digit code found next to your television brand on the chart. If you do this correctly the "TV" key will flash twice. Now it's programmed!
  6. Now point the remote at your TV and press the Power key. If the TV turns off, you're golden. If not, try again with the next code on the list.

I have been given a technika flat screen tv without the remote. I have bought a universel remote but technika is not listed in the codes could you give me a code for this tv please.

You should try codes for Funai, Symphonic, & Sylvania. Some Tecknikas are same as some of those. At least in my Comcast cable box remote code listings.

TV Will Not Turn Off With Digital Cable Control

The remotes you get from the cable company are universal and kinda cheap. ive ran across this multiple times but since i dont know what model remote you have the only advice i can give is that the code you used is not the right code if it doesnt do all basic functions (on,off for the tv,volume)its just the wrong code if the codes you stated are the only ones available the book you got with the remote should explain how to run an auto scan.hope i was some help

Programming the Acquos Remote

There is a code out there to try.  The code would be 47.  Just follow the steps in your manual on how to program this box and you should be able to go from there. Can't garantee that it will work as that code came out with the newer tv but it should work.
