How I reset my router to the old password? And how can I use it without Ethernet cable

Hi
There is a wide range of help from here:-
http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/tags/dsl2640s.html
but generally resetting to the old password requires access to the router settings. It is often easier to go back to the original settings by using the reset button.
To use the router without the Ethernet cable, you need to set up the wireless settings within the router and then connect using your computer's wireless connection.
If your computer does not have wireless capability, be it laptop or desktop, then you will not be able to connect to the router without an ethernet cable.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

What cable do i need?

You should give more detailed information!
If I understand correctly, you have an ADSL over a normal landline with a splitter between the phone and the modem. If you now want to move the modem you need a simple telephone-cable with at least two wires.

page 14 shows a diagram of router
This above network user guide document also explains configuring the setup
on the back of the printer look for an ethernet symbol
look at

to see what it looks like
then plug in cat 5e ethernet cable (not a crossover cable )
on the back of the router should be several ports with the same symbol .

You don't need any drivers for your DSL 2640s Router!! or any "Plug & Play" Routers. Just configure your settings with your browsers.

Is there a way to hook into my dsl internet to get wifi

Does your DSL not have a wireless router? If not, you can certainly get one for cheap...walmart has Belkin/Netgear/ASUS wireless routers for about $40...the instructions are pretty straight-forward. It's a cheap and easy. let me know if you need assistance.

Driver

not sure why you will need USB drivers for your adsl2+ modem/ wireless router and 4 port LAN switch. It would help you had provided the model number.

The device uses a LAN ethernet port to connect to the computer. You will need atleast one computer to be on the LAN port for setting it up. Once setup is complete you can use wireless connection for every computer.

The user manual & drivers or the DSL-2740B which appears similar to your product description
http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/Download/download.aspx?product=DSL-2740B

Not sure if you need these. Your computers will need LAN or wireless drivers to connect to this DLINK modem/ router.

Good luck

Since you did not include the type of internet provider I cannot give you more specific instructions. Although you can refer to the links below on how to set it up. If you require further assistance just reply to this and give me the model number of your ISP and the model of your router. Also answer this question " When you plug your computer to your modem do you get online automatically or do you need a username and password"
